Obituary for Charles Edward Lamb
Charles Edward Lamb, age 86, of Dunedin, Florida, passed away on March 13th, 2025, at the home of his son and daughter-in-law following a brief illness. He was born on February 19th, 1939, in Darlington, County Durham, England, to James Leslie Lamb and Mary Irene Swan.
Charles, known to his friends and family as Eddie, lived a life devoted to ministry and service. On December 3rd, 1960, he married Shirley Pinches at the Elim Church in Leeds, England. Their 54 years of marriage were filled with love, faith, and a shared commitment to God’s work. Eddie was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Shirley, and his parents.
Eddie’s passion for ministry began early in life. He attended Elim Pentecostal Bible College in London starting in 1956 and continued to serve in various types of ministry, including pastoring, church planting, Bible teaching, outreach, and counseling, until his passing. Over the years, he served congregations at Dunedin Assembly of God, Clearwater First Assembly of God, and Okeechobee Assembly of God. His work took him to many places, including towns in Northern England, South Wales, the Pacific Northwest, Lakeland, Okeechobee, and Dunedin, Florida.
One of Eddie’s greatest joys was studying God’s Word and ministering to others. He was deeply dedicated to helping people grow in their faith and fostering a relationship with God. He was also known for his remarkable Bible knowledge and his ability to humbly share that knowledge with others. His gift for connecting with people from all walks of life and restoring relationships with God and each other made him a beloved figure in every community he served.
In addition to his ministry, Eddie had many interests. He drove a 52-seat coach through various countries in Europe, including Holland, France, Belgium, Germany, Switzerland, Italy, Austria, Yugoslavia, Greece, and England. He also spent time restoring and painting more than 40 cars and enjoyed working with his 1948 Ford 8N tractor. One of his proudest achievements was baptizing both his father and his son together in 1972.
Eddie is survived by his son, John, and his daughter-in-law, Donna. He leaves behind a legacy of love, service, and faith that will continue to inspire all who knew him. He was especially grateful for the support of pastors Billy and Debbie Green, Pastor Jeff Rudolph, Pastor Ken Hope, Pastor Joe Peterson, and Pastor Steve Lambert, as well as all those at Lakeland Assembly of God’s head office.
A service in his honor will be held at Dunedin Assembly of God at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 22nd, 2025, followed by interment at Curlew Hills Cemetery at 3:00 p.m.
