Charles Edward Dockweiler


Charles, while stationed in the Philippines, adopted a pet monkey. His family says he always loved animals.

Charles (Doc) Edward Dockweiler passed away June 10, 2016 at the Martinsburg VA Medical Center under hospice care. He was born November 29, 1930 to Edward A. Dockweiler and Lucille Moon Dockweiler in Baker City, Oregon. They later divorced and he was raised by his mother Lucille. He lived in Oregon and Virginia most of his life. He served in the US Army from 1949 – 1953 during the Korean War Era. He married the love of his life, Anna Morris, on the 21st of June, 1952 at the First Baptist Church in Alexandra, Virginia and they were married 60 + years when she passed in 2012. They were team owner/operators for Atlas Van Lines/Paxton Division for many years then Charles later became self-employed and owned his own auto repair shop both Virginia and Oregon. He loved working on friends and families cars, salvaging vehicles recreating them to into amazing towing flatbed trailers.

Charles loved music originally taught to him by his father. He could play any instrument that had strings and sing like no other.  He loved jamming with his sister Millie and her husband Monroe, and his father and sister Gaye. Charles and Anna had no children of their own however they raised Anna’s niece, Victoria Haney, as their own daughter. She was the love of their lives. After Ann’s passing he moved from Oregon to Kearneysville, WV and his daughter took care of him until his death. He leaves behind daughter Victoria (Snoozes) Shirley, Son David Charles Mullins, 7 grandchildren, three great grandchildren, two sisters, Gaye (Bill) Murray of Montana, Mary Ellen Jackson, and one brother Ted (Polly) Dockweiler of Oregon, and many nieces and nephews and two favorite nieces, Pamela Delaney and Clara Sue Kostman.

He was proceeded in death by his wife, Anna, his parents, step mother, Eva, and three sisters. Per his wishes there will be no funeral service.
