Charles Francis Gnirke, 74, of Tampa, FL passed away on Saturday, July 5, 2025. He was born on December 23, 1950 in Daytona Beach, FL to Carl & Eleanor Gnirke. On January 19, 1985, he married Eleanor Schoppe at the Saint Joseph Catholic Church in Stuart, FL. Together they shared 40 years of marriage. He grew up on Long Island, NY in Carle Place, enlisted in the US Army and served in South Korea during the Viet Nam War, then worked for Delta Airlines.
Charlie wants everyone to listen to the song, “Perhaps Love” by John Denver and Placido Domingo. Always remember, “Charlie’s Miracle” and say, “Jesus, I Trust in You”.
Charlie was preceded in death by his parents, brother Edward Gnirke, brother-in-law Donald Oliviera.
He is survived by his wife Eleanor “Ellie” S. Gnirke, sister Carol Bove (Anthony), brother Kenneth Gnirke (Sandy), Robert Gnirke, and sister Nancy Oliviera, and nieces and nephews.
A funeral mass will be held on Saturday, August 2, 2025 at 11am at St. Timothy Catholic Church, 17512 Lakeshore Rd, Lutz, FL 33558, 813-968-1077, in lieu of flowers, send a past deductible donation to St. Timothy Catholic Church or a charity of your choice, there will be no visitation.
