Cheryl Diane Gentry, affectionately known as She She, passed away on September 17, 2023, in Largo, Florida. She was born on March 8, 1949 in Akron, Ohio. She was the daughter of Ralph L. Gentry and Hilda M. Gentry. Cheryl was preceded in death by her father, mother, and brothers Douglas Gentry and Daryl Gentry.
Cheryl had a fulfilling career, starting as an accountant for Bonds Clothing Store and Halle’s Department Store in Cleveland, Ohio, from 1970 to 1977. In pursuit of her dreams of a career in LPGA, she moved to Ft Lauderdale, Florida in 1977. In 1984, Cheryl relocated to Largo, Florida, to be closer to her family and provide care for her mother and brother. She became the Office Manager and Accountant for Shadow Lakes Management Company, all while dedicating her time to coaching little league baseball and middle school girls’ basketball.
Beyond her professional life, Cheryl had a deep passion for sports and love of animals. She excelled as a shortstop in high school, earning several awards for her skills on the field. Golf was another one of her favorite pastimes. Cheryl was known for her love of coaching. “She She” was further known for her special fondness for animals.
Cheryl will be deeply missed by her surviving family members, including her sisters Nancy Kapper and Cindy Joseph, as well as her loving brother in-laws Tom Kapper and Paul Joseph, her nieces Tanya Aleksin (Doug), Ronalee Clay (Tadd), Blossom Kapper-Mock (Justin), and nephews Mark Aleksin, Daryl Gentry (Traci), Paul Joseph (Kelly), Christian Joseph, Taylor Joseph, Michael Joseph, and Hunter Joseph (Natasha). She also leaves behind her great nieces Cassidy Clay, Kailea Aleksin, Kylie Gentry, Daniella Mock and great nephews Connor Clay, Tyler Gentry, Pauly Joseph, JT Mock, Brady Joseph, Sammy Joseph, Tatum Joseph, and Carson Mock.
“She She” will forever be remembered for her caring nature, love for sports, dedication to her family and friends, and her unwavering sense of humor. Even during her courageous 25 year battle with cancer, she never lost her wit or missed an opportunity to find space to add laughter and humor. May she rest in peace.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on October 8, 2023 at 4pm, at the home of Thomas and Nancy Kapper, located at 17404 1st Street East, Redington Shores, Florida 33708.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the AMERICAN CANCER society or the SPCA in Cheryl’s memory.
Veterans Funeral Care in Clearwater, Florida, is assisting with the arrangements.

Sheesh. What a great soul you have been throughout my life. I watched you protect your sisters, watch over nieces, nephews with a love that was fierce & true.
You could make anyone laugh with a humor that I will remember forever. You brought so much joy, friendship into my mom’s life and I am grateful for the light you gave.
