Christopher “Chris” A. Coumpis, 53, of St. Petersburg, passed away on February 5, 2015, at the South Pinellas Care Center of Suncoast Hospice. He was born in Hackensack, NJ. He was a machinist at TSE Industries.
Chris was a man who loved to love life and people. He dearly loved his family; he was indeed a family man. He enjoyed crabbing, fishing, camping, the Florida Keys, and watching movies. He was also an awesome cook and like cooking for lots of people. He also liked to try foods from different cultures and he was a collector of everything, good or broken. He loved his knife collection and a favorite word was “Grind-it”.
His love of people was abundant. He liked to make people laugh and was willing to give the shirt off of his back or his last dollars to whomever needed it. Chris was always willing to help anybody, family, friends and even animals. He loved the people that worked at TSE Industries.
Chris loved nature and animals, especially Komodo Dragons. He admired “The Crocodile Hunter”, Steve Irwin and “Man versus Wild”, Bear Gillas. He loved his Siberian Husky, Achilles, and his kitten, Newt.
He is survived by his wife, Felecia; his mother and step-father, Maryann and John Aalborg of St. Petersburg; his sister, Michelle of St. Petersburg; step-sister, Cynthia of New Jersey; step son, David Lam and many nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held at Calvary Catholic Cemetery at 1:00PM on Tuesday, February 17, 2015. The cemetery is located at 5233 118th Avenue North, Clearwater, FL 33760.

My dearest brother Chris. I love you with all my heart forever. You taught me how to cook, how draw, how to protect myself, but most of all you showed me how to love and give to everyone. I will miss you dearly, everyday. I’m thankful that God put you in our lives. Now your home in heaven. I will remember your smile and laughter until we meet again.
Rest in peace my brother.
Love Michelle
Death leaves a void that no words can fill; love fills a heart which no one can steal. Chris filled many hearts with love in his inimitable way. Now he’s dancing on the golden streets of heaven, looking at God and saying “Love ya, man!”
It is said that when we are gone, people remember how they felt when they were around us. Whenever Chris was around, you had no choice but to laugh. He was always upbeat with that smile on his face. He was a true original and a character. Truly impossible to forget. Why was he taken so young? I think it’s because God needed a good laugh, so he sent for Chris. Rest in peace, Chris, and thanks for sharing some time with us.
