C. Fred Allen


Frederick Allen. of Largo, Florida, 82, passed away on May 4, 2019 at his home with his  loving wife at his side.

Fred was born October 2, 1936 in Dubois, Pennsylvania, a son of the late Cornelius (Bus)  Allen and Kathryn Kilmurray Allen. He joined the United States Navy and  served aboard the USS Rockbridge as a Radio Operator and was honorably discharged in 1957. He had 17 months of over seas duty.  He attended Penn State and DuVry universities and  worked as a Computer Programmer for the West Penn Power Company.

Mr. Allen was a member of Saint Matthews Catholic Church for over 30 years and sang in the choir.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister: Mary Lee and a brother: Thomas (Mary Alice) of Jacksonville. Florida.

Survivors include His wife, Patti; Stepson, Larry, and son: Fred of Largo; a brother: Edmund (Carol) of Phoenix, Arizona, 2 sisters: Jeannie (Tom) of Tampa , and Laura (Scott) of Ridgeway, Pennsylvania.

Before his death, Fred had said he wanted to thank his St. Matthew family choir. He also wanted to give a special thanks to Robert, Jack, Chris, and Carolann for all they had done for him the last several months. Thanks to his stepson, Larry, who called every week to ask how he was and for all his prayers. Fred wrote that he was so very thankful for his wonderful wife, Patti, who  showed him what true love was. He said, “I loved you from the first day I met you and I will love you forever!”

A viewing will be held  from 10:00-11:00 A.M. ,one hour prior to the mass. at St. Matthews Catholic Church, 9111 90th Avenue, Largo, Florida,  on Tuesday, May 14, 2019 . A Mass will be held at 11:00 A.M.  Burial will be at Bay Pines National Cemetery on Wednesday, May 22, 2019 at 2:00 P.M. Military rites will be rendered.

Memorial donations may be made to The St. Vincent DePaul Society of St. Matthew Church in his memory.
