Cynthia Ann Vaughan, 74, of Largo, FL, passed away peacefully on February 20, 2016, surrounded by family and friends. Cindy was born in Monroe, LA. She was preceded in death by her mother, Thelma Hyde Vaughan, father, J. Wesley Vaughan, Sr., and her brother, John Wesley Vaughan, Jr. She is survived by her aunt, Annie Hyde Stephenson, Shreveport, LA, sister-in-law, Kay C. Vaughan of Richardson, TX, her nephew, John Wesley Vaughan, III, his wife, Angela Hunter Vaughan and their four children, Evan (11), Oliver(7), Kate (7)and Willa (7), from Austin, TX. There was never a more devoted Aunt to four wonderful children, whom she adored. She was also survived by Cinders and Miss Kitty who were also beloved members of her family.
After first earning her nursing degree from Northwestern State University in Natchitoches, LA, she received her MBA from Abilene Christian University in Dallas, TX. She loved nothing more than getting a group of her friends together for lunch, hosting holiday dinners in her home, or traveling to visit family members. After retirement she turned her love for learning into love for travel, she developed her painting skills and became an award winning artist. But her real art was making and retaining friends throughout her life. She will be missed.
A graveside service will be held in Cotton Valley, LA, followed by a memorial service in Seminole, FL.
My deepest condolences to Cynthia’s family. I am so sorry for your loss.
We are so saddened by Cynthia’s passing. She was such a friendly and wonderful neighbor. We miss seeing her out walking her dog. We know she is at rest and peace in Heaven with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Our condolences to her family and friends.
Dear Cindy, You were a wonderful nurse and will be missed by all who knew you.
Cindy was a wonderful Bay Pines friend. She always had a beautiful smile whenever we passed in the hallways. Sending my thoughts and prayers to her family.
I was another “old” Bay Pines employee who worked at Bay Pines back in the good days. I remember Cindy well and am saddened by her passing. My deepest condolences.
So very sad to read of Cindy’s passing. We shared many good times together at Bay Pines. She could brighten my day when I needed it the most. She adored her Yorkees and family; and I know she will be deeply missed. My thoughts and prayers go to her family at this very difficult time.
My sincerest condolences for all of Cyndi’s family. We worked together at the VA, and maintained a friendship after retirement. She loved her family especially.
So sorry for your loss. May she rest in the peace.
Cindy was an amazing nurse , friend and surrogate mom and grandmother to me and my daughter for over 17 years. We spent many holidays, and family events together. We miss her terribly and feel a big void in our hearts but we know without a shadow of a doubt that she is home with Our Lord Jesus Christ. We are left behind but look forward to seeing her again in eternity.
We love you so much Cindy.
Ms. Cindy has been like a grandma to me since I was born. She was so outgoing and loving to everyone. She will be greatly missed.❤️ We love you Ms. Cindy!
Cindy-
I will miss you dearly. It won’t be the same not seeing you in the front row at church. Thank you for seeing so many of us through our tough times, and always encouraging those around you. You will be missed.
It was always good to see Cindy when she came to Abilene to be with her Dad. We a

I miss you, my friend. Cindy was a brilliant nurse, a talented artist, a wonderful cook, but most of all a great friend to so many. Recently I bought a little book entitled “My Broken Shell” for Cindy because it reminded me so much of how she lived her life. One passage that I feel was her essence read: “Lord, help me to reach out to others…especially to the broken and discouraged…not only to love them but to learn from them as well”. May I listen…comfort…and give unconditional love to all who pass my way”. And well you did all of those things, Cindy. You are loved and will be missed.
Sorry for your loss. She was a very sweet lady and will be missed.
Cindy and I had a very special bond, for over 30 years. I will never forget her and all the great times we
had through out those years. We met at the VA Medical Center in Dallas, TX and have been friend ever since.
She is truly missed but not forgotten.
Cindy was indeed a wonderful friend. No one made me laugh harder! And what a cook! I learned a lot from that girl! I will miss her sadly but with the knowledge that she loved her Lord and I spoke with her a week before she passed and she told me she was ready to meet her maker and see her family again.
I worked with Cindy in the VA and she was a fierce advocate for her vets. They loved her and she was highly respected by the staff. My condolences to her family whom she loved dearly .

I worked side by side with Cindy for many years and saw firsthand her passion for nursing and her dedication to the Veterans she served so well. She was a true southern belle, respectful of all, devoted to her family and friends and her 4-legged kids. She was a kind and gentle soul and will be greatly missed. My sincere condolences to her family. Rest in peace my dear friend……you have a well-deserved place in Heaven!
