Dallas Leslie Oehler, 60, passed from this life on January 6, 2015, at Bay Pines VA Medical Center after an extended illness.
Dallas was the son of David A. Oehler and Mary Lou (Rider) Oehler, both deceased. He was born in Williams Mountain, WV and lived his early years in Brighton, IL before moving with his mother and brother David to Largo, FL.
Dallas graduated from Largo High School then served his country in the US Navy on the USS Santa Barbara. After leaving the Navy, he worked in various professions, spending most of his years in landscaping at golf courses, businesses and residential homes.
Dallas had a fun-loving, congenial personality and loved to joke around and have fun with anyone with whom he came in contact. His light-hearted spirit will be missed by all.
Dallas is survived by his brother David, sister-in-law Susan, niece Monica and grand-niece Alexus along with several aunts, uncles and cousins.
A brief military honors service will be held on Friday, January 16, 2015 at 1:30 PM at Bay Pines National Cemetery, 10000 Bay Pines Blvd., St. Petersburg, FL. His interment will also be at Bay Pines. In lieu of flowers, contributions are recommended to go to either DAV Charitable Service Trust or Wounded Warrior Project (Florida).
David, I just happened to see this in the paper yesterday. I am so sorry that you have lost your brother. I think you may remember that he and I were in the same class in school. My condolences to you and your family. Sincerely, Joyce (Jane Miller’s daughter)
Dear David and Susan,
I am so sorry for your loss of Dallas. You will be in my prayers.
David, it’s your cousin Betsy. I have just moved back to Florida after living in Texas for the past eight years. And I just tried to look Dallas up to see if he was still in the area and found out that he has passed. I’m sorry for your brothers loss and shocked to find out this way.
Love your cousin,
Betsy
Hi cousin, sorry we lost contact over the years. Now I’m back in the area and your not! I google searched to see if you were close by so we could see each other and found out that way. It was quite the shock I was not expecting to find. Love you cuz, Betsy
