David A. Sanchez, 66, of Largo, Florida was called by God to his heavenly home on Sunday Jan. 17, 2021. David is survived by his beloved wife, Rita R. Sanchez, his 4 daughters: Nair, Sorhenis, Julieth, and Tiffany; his grandsons Sebastian, Esteban, and Aaron; and granddaughter Abigail Rose.
David was dedicated to his work at Wendover Art Group in Largo. Even after his retirement, he looked forward to being there every day and enjoyed being productive and supporting the company who constantly acknowledged him as one of their top producers.
David was a professional and very talented musician whose passion was playing the acoustic guitar, a talent carried over as a tradition inherited from his father and relatives. David was the long time leader of “Trio Anoranzas”(Longing Trio) from Rhode Island where they played countless Colombian festivals and serenatas on the east coast, as well as, back in his home country enjoyed.
He loved singing to his wife, teaching music to others (his specialty: difficult tricks and tactics with the guitar), and singing along with beautiful traditional of yore latin-american music with his family and many friends. David and Rita, the love birds, enjoyed singing together and David even wrote a special song just for her.
David was popular because of his respectful, gentle, soft, caring manners; always so happy with a smile on his face. David was born in Colombia where 5 siblings, many nephews, nieces and good friends are. David also lived in RI for 19 years where his children, a sister, 2 nephews and their families currently live.
A memorial service to celebrate David’s life will be held at a future date. David’s ashes will be scattered in the oceans of Florida where he enjoyed so much for the last several years of his life, where beautiful weather and sunshine rays are, where he loved walking on the soft sands of the place he always dreamed of, and lived a love story next to his “muneca”(doll) as he called her. David will forever live in our hearts with many memories of joyful moments.
David: enjoy God’s presence, rest in the God you trusted and loved!!
When I started working at Wendover 5 years ago in the canvas department David saw I was lost and didn’t speak Spanish. He came to my rescue. He stood by my side at every morning meeting and made sure I knew what to do. We quickly became friends. He was always telling me about his love of music, his home country of Columbia and his family. He was especially proud of his beautiful wife who he loved very much. David’s smile and kind words made people come from all over the building during the day to see him. Even the “Big Boss” would make a special point to stop and talk to David when he came through our department. He knew David’s strong work ethic was an inspiration to us all. I will miss him every day and he will always be in my heart. My thoughts and prayers are with David’s wife and family. Jim Lee
