David Francis Turner

David Francis Turner, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, was born on December 10, 1935, in Nanticoke, Pennsylvania. He departed this world peacefully on December 10, 2025, at his home in Valrico, Florida, surrounded by his loving wife, Sun Sook. David’s life was a tapestry woven with extraordinary experiences, deep love, and steadfast commitment to his family and country.

Preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Victoria (Trojanowski) Turner, David leaves behind a legacy that will forever be cherished by his family. He is survived by his devoted wife and angel, Sun Sook, with whom he shared more than 40 years of marriage, having wed on May 26, 1985, at Tom’s River Beachwood, New Jersey. Together, they built a life filled with love and adventure.

David is also survived by his son, David, and daughters Maria, Martha, and Rebecca, who will carry forward his values of integrity, hard work, and compassion. His legacy continues through his grandchildren: David, Christina, Kelton, Keele, Karen, William, Ella, and Nathan, who delighted in their grandfather’s stories and wisdom. He is further survived by his daughter-in-law, Ruthie, son-in-law, Norman, and his beloved sister, Maryann.

A proud Vietnam Veteran, David honorably served in the U.S. Navy, where his proudest achievement was his service on board the destroyer USS Robert A. Owens and later the carrier USS Enterprise. His military service was a defining chapter in his life, one that shaped his character and instilled in him a sense of duty and commitment to his country. Following his time in the Navy, David enjoyed a successful career as a Quality Assurance Manager for Westinghouse Corporation, specializing in nuclear engineering and the quality assurance of nuclear power plants around the globe.

David was not just a dedicated worker and military man; he was also an avid world traveler, having lived in places such as Cuba, Korea, Croatia, and Brazil. His adventurous spirit was matched only by his love for sports, particularly college and professional football, as well as his passion for Formula One racing. He was a true music aficionado, relishing the sounds of big band and jazz music. A talented musician himself, David played both the saxophone and clarinet, sharing his love of music with those around him.

Friends and family will remember David as a man of great kindness, humor, and warmth. He had a knack for making those around him feel special and valued. His ability to engage in conversation and his genuine interest in the lives of others made him a cherished figure in the hearts of many.

David’s final chapter was marked by a courageous battle with heart and kidney failure, which he faced with the same bravery he demonstrated throughout his life. As we mourn his passing, we celebrate the incredible life he lived—full of love, laughter, and adventure.

A funeral service to honor David’s life will be held on December 16, 2025, at 11:30 AM at the Florida National Cemetery.

David Francis Turner will be deeply missed but will forever remain in the hearts of those who loved him. His legacy of service, love, and unwavering support will inspire future generations to come. Rest in peace, dear David. Your journey has not ended; it has simply taken a different form.
