David John Dennis, 57 of New Port Richey, FL, died early Sunday morning in an accidental death; hit by a car on US Highway 19 North.
He was a graduate of Dallas High School, Dallas PA in 1976. After graduation he signed up for the US Navy where he served four years aboard the USS Shasta T-AE33 in San Diego, CA. Recently he was a member of the American Legion Paradise Post 79, New Port Richey, FL. David attended Penn State offsite campus in Dallas, PA. For the past 10 years, he worked for the City of Largo in their Public Works Division as an Environmental Specialist. Later he transferred to the City of New Port Richey, working again for their Public Works Division.
He is survived by his daughter, Rachel Dennis (17) of Pittston, PA; his mother, Lois Dennis of Millsboro, DE; two brothers. Scott of Millsboro, DE and Chuck of Wilkes-Barre PA; sister, Deanna Dennis Shenk of New Port Richey, FL, and brother-in-law, Robert Shenk. Also surviving is his father, Charles Dennis Sr. of Hanover, PA; many nieces and nephews; and numerous friends. He will be sadly missed by all.
Services are being arranged by Veterans Funeral Care, Clearwater, FL. Any flowers can be accepted by Bay Pines National Cemetery. A military ceremony and internment at the Bay Pines National Cemetery, Bay Pines, FL was held at 11:30 am on Monday, October 26, 2015.

I’m sorry Mom, Dad, Deanna, Scott and everyone else who knew my brother. I’m sure he made you laugh sometime or another with his weird sense of humor…I can’t believe this happened. I expected to see him at 89 maybe in a Philly Eagles jersey, mug of beer and the grateful dead playing. I’m sorry guys.
David was a great friend. Not only a friend but more.I’m from wilkes Barre god we had good time s at work and eagles and philly game’s. I’m glad we got to spend time together when he came back in he would stay with me.be great time always be laughing. I still can’t believe it!! How is it possible that this amazing person no longer here with us!! I am so surprised at how much I actually feel your absence from this world. The brother I never had. I remember you calling me up in a panic to go help you at nan’s house and telling me to bring Gary. You were truly his favorite uncle.
