David Richard Levering passed peacefully on February 13, 2019 at age 76 in St. Petersburg, FL.
Dave was quick with a smile, a kind word, or a helping hand. Even in his final years he was everyone’s “Go To” guy. A coach, referee, and fan, Dave never missed his son’s practices or games. In the same way, as an avid fan, he has loved and supported his grandsons.
Dave was born on January 7, 1943 to Emerson and Clara Levering in Columbus, OH. Predeceased by his mother and father and his sisters Patty Borror and Marilyn Witherup. Survived by his wife of 47 years Jan Levering, brother Bill Levering and his wife Kay who raised Dave from adolescence to adulthood, sons and their spouses Rick and Pam, Rod and Krista and grandchildren: Leighton, Landon, Leo, Taylor, and Madison.
A lover of all things on the water, Dave now resides eternally in heaven where everyday is opening day.
Memorial to be held at Bay Pines National Cemetery Monday, March 4 at 3:00 PM.
Such wonderful pictures and memories of a great guy! We had a Southside Family second to none and even though we moved away , we all have a strong bond and a special place in each other’s hearts. We always enjoyed being around Dave with his wonderful smile and great personality..He will be missed.
I Loved Uncle Dave,
He always took the time to make me feel not just included, but welcome in the family. He was quick with a smile and kind.
I’m so sorry for your loss, I know he’lll be greatly missed.
Thoughts and prayers continue to the Levering family. Met them during Bay Point Days. We remember driving by their house on the way to Corey Avenue and happy to find Jan and Dave sitting on their porch. We would stop by for a brief visit. Hugs to you.
Many great memories with Dave while we lived in the Southside of St Pete. Dave was always happy, upbeat and a friend to all. Sad to see you leave the planet;you are in our prayers along with your family. Blessings…..
Jan I am still in shock over Dave’s passing. My heart aches for you, the boys and their families. Remembering good times we had. Dave was so fun to be around. Know you are in my thoughts and prayers.💝
I have fond memories of Dave and I am sure Harry and he are laughing at old memories. The Southside family were strong and caring, so I’m sure we will always remember.
We have not known David very long, but long enough to know he was a wonderful caring man. His son, Rod, is a testament to what a wonderful father he was David was there for our daughter when she needed him. I know he will be missed by many people, but he left a lot of good memories and love to pass on. We are blessed to have his son, Rod as part of that love he has left behind 🙏🏼❤️
We were very sorry to hear of Dave’s passing. We remember Dave as a very kind and friendly man. We will always remember the good times while living in south St. Petersburg along with the many good friends we made through our children’s sports, middle and high school events. It was a fun time. Your family is in our prayers. Dave will be missed.
I am so sorry to learn of Dave’s passing. He was my son’s soccer coach 39 years ago. He was a kind coach who supported all the kids. He went far beyond the duties of coach when he offered to bring my son to practices because I was dealing with a health issue. RIP Dave Levering…. you left this world a better place.
