Dennis and Diane Moore


Dennis Eugene Moore, 72, passed peacefully at his home in Pinellas Park, FL on Saturday, April 2, 2016. Dennis was born on January 5, 1944 to Marvin and Vivian Moore of Greenville, SC.

Dennis’ wife of 47 years, Glenda “Diane” Berry Moore, 67, passed peacefully at Morton Plant Hospital on Wednesday, April 6, 2016.  Diane was born on February 22, 1949 to Glenn and Billie Berry of Hickory, NC.

In 1978, Dennis and Diane moved to Clearwater, FL with their son, Dennis Moore II from Greenville, SC.

Dennis served in the United States Army and the Civil Air Patrol. He worked as a funeral attendant until his retirement. He was a member of Hejaz Shrine Temple for over 40 years, volunteering his time for Shriner’s Hospital for Children. In his free time, Dennis enjoyed archery, woodworking, and hunting.  He also played the Upright Bass with a local bluegrass band.

Dennis is preceded in death by his father, Marvin Moore; mother, Vivian Peigler Moore and numerous aunts.

He is survived by his aunt; Ann Jones of Sarasota, FL; his brother, Charles Moore (Cheryl) of Malta, MT; his sister Nancy Hicks of Henderson, NC; his son, Dennis Moore II (Amy) of Clearwater, FL; his daughter, Lisa Swanson (Harvey) of Inman, SC; his son Ricky Moore of Greenville, SC; his granddaughters Kayla Moore of Duluth, GA and Ashley Hames of Boling Springs, SC; his grandson, Jonathan Childers of Piedmont, SC; two great grandsons and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

Diane worked as an accounting clerk for the Eckerd Corporation and for Calvary Catholic Cemetery until retirement. Diane supported her husband in his various volunteer endeavors. She was very passionate about her family, her four-legged fur babies and enjoyed cooking and baking for her family and friends.

Diane is preceded in death by her father, Glenn Berry; her mother, Billie Pope Berry; and her brothers, Stuart Berry and Glenn M. Berry. She is survived by her son, Dennis Moore II (Amy) of Clearwater, FL; granddaughter Kayla Moore of Duluth, GA and nephew, Billyjo Berry of Masaryktown, FL.

In addition to their volunteer work in the 1980’s,  Dennis and Diane were “The Amazing Dino & Company”, wherein they were a magician and lovely assistant. Their son, Dennis, also occasionally assisted in the magic show. Magic was a passion of theirs and they spent many years entertaining family and friends.

Dennis and Diane will be fondly remembered for their wit, sense of humor, kind nature and generous hearts.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, June 24, 2016 at 9:15 am at Bay Pines National Cemetery, 10000 Bay Pines Blvd. North, St. Petersburg, FL, 33708.
