Dennis Michael Soroka

Dennis Michael Soroka Veterans Funeral

Dennis Michael Soroka, 38, of Largo, FL, passed away on April 10, 2015, at Bayfront Health St. Petersburg.  He was a native Floridian born in Clearwater, FL, and graduated from Largo High School.

He served his country in the US Navy as an Airman (E-3) and his final duty station was the USS Harry S. Truman (CVN 75), Nimitz class aircraft carrier.  Following his service time, Dennis became a mechanic working on industrial machinery. A co-worker described him as a great co-worker and a hilarious guy who had a great work ethic.

As a kid, Dennis loved to take tings apart and put them back together like an engineer would. He loved going to water parks, riding the rollercoaster and going to amusement parks.  He enjoyed fireworks, bb guns, sling shots, water balloons, mini bike and go carts.  Dennis had a love for music and concerts and liked many varieties of music, with rock and roll being the best.  He also had a real passion for old cars and motorcycles.

Dennis was always the funniest, most honest and gentle person around.  Everyone who came in contact with him always loved him.  He was the type of person that would give the shirt off of his back or all of the money in his pocket to help a friend. He was involved with anything that was spontaneous, adventurous or mind blowing. Friends found him to be a role model making the world a better place through kindness, compassion and generosity.

He loved his wife, kids and family so much.  Here are some of the many comments they have about him.

Jamie – Wife:  I had the pleasure of being with him for 8 years and knowing him for 20 years.  He actually had a crush on me in middle/high school but was too shy to ask me out.  He always told me he is so happy he finally got the courage to ask me out and regretted he did not do it back in high school because then we would have had all those extra years.  He would always tell me we had 50+ years together and we would grow old and wrinkly together.  We were truly happy for every day and grateful for all our blessings.  He was the greatest man I know.  We thank you for putting together this obituary for him.  Thank you.

I could not have asked for a better love of my life.  I was looking forward to the next 50+ years together.  Whenever I was stressed or dealing with a lot, he would always make my day better and help out as much as he could to make my life easier.  I will never find another man like him.  He was definitely one of a kind.  He was the best husband anyone could ask for.  And he was all mine.   I was very blessed to get to marry the man of my dreams.

Cassie – Daughter: He was 100% my loving caring dad and I couldn’t ever asked for a better dad to teach me so much about life.  I loved him no matter how mad or weird he was.  At least now he won’t scare all my boyfriends out of the house.  I love and miss him so much and I know he is watching over me and all my family.

Adam – Brother: I had the pleasure to have him as a classmate, a friend, and, best of all, a brother. There can only be one Dennis Soroka.

Gina – Sister in Law: He was the nicest guy you would ever meet, making all who met him feel liked. He never cut corners in life, he gave his all. He was the best husband, team mate and best friend to his wife and by far the most amazing father for his girls. I will miss his positive and silly personality.

Jessica – Sister in Law: He was always there for me to help watch the kids when I needed. No matter what time it was, he was there. The best man I could ever have as a brother.

Dylan – Nephew: He was a great uncle and almost another father, always someone to talk to and trade stories with.

Dennis is survived by his wife, Jamie; daughters, Cassie and Simone; parents, Dennis and Nancy; and sister, Katie.

Services will be held on Thursday, April 16, 2015, at the Seminole Assembly of God Church located at 10600 113th Street, Seminole, FL 33778.  A public viewing will start at 5:00PM and be followed by the Funeral Service at 6:00PM. Military Honors will be conducted following the Funeral Service.

UPDATE:  Dennis’ urn will be interred at Bay Pines National Cemetery on November 22nd, 2019 at 2:00pm.  The US Navy will perform military honors and render a final farewell to their shipmate at that time.  His final resting place will be next to his father, Dennis Andrew Soroka, who passed away on September 13, 2019.
