Donald Lee Avery, husband of late Elsa Avery, had a peaceful crossover at the age of 95 to be with the Lord on Nov 07, 2017. Born in Omaha, Nebraska, son of Alonzo Aaron and Maude Edwards Avery, he served as a Naval Aviator during the WWII. He graduated as a mining engineer from Michigan Tech in 1948 and moved to Lima, Peru where he met his wife Elsa. He lived there for more than 30 years raising his 3 children, Peter, Patty and Molly, all of whom watched over him in his final days. Don had a passion for art, literature, languages, religious studies all of which he studied at USF until the age of 90. He taught a wood working class at HCC until the age of 90.
All three children would like you to join them this December 18 at 2:00pm at Bay Pines Veterans Memorial Cemetery in honoring a father, a veteran, and a close friend to all those he met along his path that he made giggle, laugh and learn.
