Doucette, Donna Lee (Garrett) passed away peacefully in her sleep at home on August 26, 2023 in Pinellas Park, Florida at the age of 76. She was the beloved wife of 54 years to the late Norman Doucette who passed January 3, 2021. She is survived by her daughter Holly Doucette (Justin Forest), sister Susan Yungaitis (Chet), brother Steven Maienza (Delores), grandsons Brandon Forest (Lita) and Shawn Forest, along with 6 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews, whom she cherished. Donna is preceded in death by her mother and stepfather, June and Frank Maienza as well as her father, Earl Garrett.
Donna loved to learn, she was a registered nurse educated at Whidden Memorial Hospital in Everett, Massachusetts, received her Bachelor’s in Nursing from St. Josephs College in Windham, Maine, and a Master’s in Business Administration from Lesley College in Cambridge, Massachusetts. She was fortunate to have two very successful careers, she was a registered nurse and then became a certified financial planner for American Express Financial Advisors.
She and Norman moved to Florida for the sunshine and warm weather in 1994. She loved to craft and was able to create beautiful and unique pieces and loved to give to those whom she loved and treasured. She and Norman loved to travel throughout their lives, and have traversed the Panama Canal, cross-country train rides across the United States, spending time in Barbados, taking trans-Atlantic cruises to Europe, and loved Villefranche-sur-mer, France, staying at the Welcome Hotel and where Norman spend many years stationed in the Navy. She was an animal lover (dogs, cats, the alligators in the pond in her backyard) and had a special place for poodles as they had several over the years who were treasured family members.
There will be a memorial service on Friday, September 8, 2023 from 11am-1pm to honor both Donna and Norman at Veterans Funeral Care. Please come and share your memories. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to a charity or worthy cause close to your heart to honor Donna and Norman’s memory.

Roy and Donna were peer Nursing Directors at New England Memorial Hospital. Donna was Director of Maternal Child
Services and Roy was Director of Critical Care and the Emergency Department. They worked together in the 1970 to early 1980’s. Roy appreciated her sense of humor and candid viewpoints. He saw her as a breath of fresh air to work with in many situations. Donna was Kathy’s Director where Kathy worked in Labor & Delivery. Donna was a hard-working, fair Director, defending her Staff and patient care equally. Donna retired from Nursing to start a new career in finance. We reconnected sometime in the mid 2010’s and developed a long-distance friendship. One fond memory was a visit from Donna and Norman to our Michigan home in 2017, the year of the solar eclipse. Wearing our special eye protection, we watched the eclipse together and had a lovely visit. Kathy can attest to Donna’s craft talents and generous gift giving. She is already missed and will be fondly remembered.
