Donna Marie Tanner, National Commander of the Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary 2006-2007 passed away suddenly May 2, 2020 in Saint Petersburg, FL.
Donna her husband James, son Daniel and grandson Cyrus all reside in Lynn MA. Her sister Deborah and three children, Ryan, Michael, Timothy, her favorite grand niece Braelynn all from Lynnfield, MA .
She is the daughter of Ed and Barbra Higgins of Americana Cove, Saint Petersburg, FL, grew up in Saugus, MA and graduated Mass College of Liberal Arts, North Adams MA. She has worked for almost 20 years at the Bedford VA Hospital as the DAV Hospital Service Ride Coordinator. Previously she worked for 25 years as a Bank Branch Manager in Boston.
Donna was always happy and had a smile on her face. She loved being down here with her parents, husband Jim and all the friends she easily made. She would say she led a good life, having an education, working jobs she enjoyed and helping thousands of veterans get rides to their medical appointments.
Donna would say her greatest pleasures of life included being National Commander of the DAV Auxiliary, visiting all 50 states, being with her grandson Cyrus, meeting the President and beating the boys in playing poker on Friday nights.

I was so very sorry to read in DAV magazine of Donna’s passing. She was a bright and shining light. I will remember her fondly.
Jim and family,
Today I was thinking of Donna and how much fun it was to work with her at Commonwealth Bank in North Station where I believe she met you. I googled her to see if I could get in touch with her and find this obituary. My heart breaks. Donna will always be remembered as a kind and caring person.
