Doreen M. Whitt, 54, of Clearwater, FL passed away on November 25, 2016 surrounded by her loving family. She was born on May 17, 1962 in Monroe, Wisconsin, but moved to Florida when she was eleven years old. She was a beloved daughter, sister, mother and friend who always put others first before herself.
Doreen was so full of life and knew how to have fun and was mischievous. For example, when she was a very young child, her mother would buy round loaves of bread from the bakery. One time, Doreen snuck into the kitchen and took the loaf of bread out from the bottom of the sealed container. She turned the loaf over and made a small hole in the bottom and proceeded to eat the entire center of the loaf. After she finished, she replaced the small piece of bread that covered the hole in the bottom of the loaf and put it back through the bottom of the box. The next morning when her mother went to make sandwiches for everyone, there was no center in the loaf. To save her mother from going to the bakery to address the apparent horrible situation, Doreen confessed to the doing the deed.
Doreen was a very loving person who didn’t know a stranger. She was very kind and thoughtful person and was always doing for others. She loved the Lord with all her heart and lived a very godly life. She taught her children and others to love God, and his Truth and Way.
She was always generous and giving to everyone. Yearly, she would bring flowers and gifts to her children on their birthdays and holidays. She would do the same for their teachers, even after they weren’t in their class anymore. She threw numerous parties with lots of games and fun for the neighborhood kids, and she always had a listening ear and made time for those who needed it.
Doreen loved to spoil her daughters, nieces and nephews, and their close friends. She would often take them to do fun things and go on adventures. One adventure included giving them each a note pad and pen and saying they were going to write about all that they saw and did that afternoon. She proceeded to take them to the Tampa airport rooftop where they watched airplanes take off and land. The children wrote about the trip and sent the letters to the workers.
Another yearly thing that Doreen loved to do was go to “A Very Merry Christmas” at Disney World, where they would watch fireworks enjoy hot chocolate and cookies!
She was always on the lookout for suitable prospective husbands for her girls, always checking out the rings first.
She is preceded in death by her father Marvin Jones and survived by her mother Roseann Jones, her 5 siblings: Sharon Jones, Sue Bartlett, Marvin Jr. III Jones, Laura Jaeger and Shawnee McQuillen and their families; Her four daughters: Kelli Hamilton, Keri Whitt, Sarah Whitt, and Jayme Dawson, and several nieces and nephews.
