Doris B. Hellems, 89, of Largo, Florida, passed away peacefully on March 17, 2025. She was born on January 11, 1936, in Baltimore, Maryland, to George and Marie (McNew) Bosse. Doris spent many years as a homemaker and later worked as a bookkeeper in the family computer corporation. She moved to the local area in 2011 from Maryland, where she was a lifelong Lutheran and member of Our Shepherd Lutheran Church in Severna Park, Maryland.
Doris is preceded in death by her husband and love of her life, Billy. Billy and Doris were married at the United Evangelical Lutheran Church in Baltimore, Maryland, on May 3, 1958. Billy and Doris spent 65 joyful years together raising four children and traveling the world.
Doris is survived by her children: a son, Lance Hellems (Donna) of Seminole, Florida; three daughters: Laura Towles (Robert) of Wellington, Kentucky; Lisa Dee (Michael) of Mooresville, North Carolina; and Leah Shoulders (Troy) of Seminole, Florida; along with nine grandchildren: Jason, Lindsay, Lawrence, Brittney, Michael, Matthew, Lauren, Garret, and Shelby; and three great-grandchildren: Ethan, Savanna, and Quentin. Doris will be laid to rest beside her husband, Captain, U.S. Air Force, Billy H. Hellems at Bay Pines National Cemetery, 1000 Bay Pines Blvd., Bay Pines, Florida 33765.
