Dorothy “Dottie” Elizabeth Malone Hamilton passed away in Tampa, Florida, July 24, 2022, after a long beautiful life. She was 91 years old. She was a loving fun mother.
Dorothy is survived by 3 daughters, Linda Turner of Riverview, FL, Connie Meadows of Dallas, TX, and Mary Campbell of Mechanicburg, PA; 9 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren; her brothers Don Malone of Largo, FL and Douglas Malone of Wilmington, NC. She was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years Alfred Hamilton and her brother, Hezekiah Malone, Jr.
Dorothy was born November 1, 1930 in Pulaski, Virginia to Hezekiah and Mary Malone. She was the only daughter with three brothers.
She attended National Business College in Roanoke, Virginia. Dorothy’s established a Gift Shop in her parent’s drug store. She used these skills throughout her life. In 1970, Dorothy helped Al establish and run Hamilton and Associates Real Estate in Clearwater, FL, which grew to six offices and over 100 sales associates throughout Pinellas and Pasco County. She was a member of the Board of Realtors for Clearwater, Largo and Dunedin. She enjoyed selling commercial and residential Real Estate. Dorothy loved working and being around people. She decided when she was in her 80s to work for Wal-Mart. She was placed in charge of the cosmetic department at a Super Wal-Mart in Hot Springs, Arkansas. The employees referred to her as Granny.
Dorothy loved to be around family, especially grandchildren. Dorothy and Al enjoyed traveling, dancing, eating out and sailing together. In their later years they began studying the family genealogy, only to discover Dorothy’s family was instrumental in establishing Dunedin, FL.
She enjoyed being involved in church with a love for Missions. She was on the board for D & D Missionary Homes. She was a Brownie Leader for the Girl Scouts. She was a wonderful loving wife, mother and grandmother. Mom was always there to help. We will miss her gentle, loving charm combined with a great sense of humor.
Dorothy was a living example of this verse: Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you. Ephesians 4:32
