Edgar L. Alley


Edgar L. Alley, 93, of Plant City, Florida and formerly of Dover, Florida funeral service is 10:30 am, Thursday, May 25, 2017 at the 1st Baptist Church of Brandon, 216 North Parsons Avenue, Brandon, Florida with Senior Pastor Tim Keith, to officiate.  The family will receive friends at the church from 9:30 am until service time.  The burial will take place at Florida National Cemetery, 6502 SW 102nd Avenue, Bushnell, Florida  33513 on Thursday, May 25, 2017 @ 2:00 pm with the VFW Post 10209 and the United States Army Honors and Ceremonial Teams, officiating.

A native of Rushtown, Ohio and a local resident of the Brandon-Plant City Florida area since 2003 when he moved here from Le Belle, Florida. He was born on January 6, 1924 in Rushtown, Ohio and passed away on May 19, 2017 in Plant City, Florida. During World War II, he served in the US Army and after his discharge, Edgar went to Tipp City, Ohio and worked for AO SMITH in Tipp City, Ohio.  He attended and was actively involved in the 1st Baptist Church in Brandon, Florida. He was a Faithful Christian who loved the Lord, a loving son, husband, father, father-in-law, brother, grandfather and great grandfather.

Proceeded in death by his parents, John and Sallie (Hamilton) Alley and his loving and faithful wife, Kathryn Alley on May 7, 2016. Edgar is survived by his loving family: his sons; David Alley and his wife, Beverly of plant City, Florida; Gary Allen and his wife, Judy of Brandon, Florida and Walter Dana Alley and his wife, Shelia of Reading, Michigan; a daughter, Mary Spruance of Piqua, Ohio; a brother, John Alley Jr. of Huntsville, Alabama; a sister, Phyllis Hohen of Live Oak, Florida; thirteen (13) grandchildren: Mary Angela Spruance, John Timothy Spruance (Lisa), Chad Lee Spruance, Gary Lee Alley (Sharon), James Turner Alley (Julie), Jonathan Paul Alley, Christina Michelle Alley Kim (JiHoon), Courtney Nations (Matthew), Melissa Gail Adams (James), Andrea Lynn Hoyer (Steve), Dana Jo Vallejo (Luis), Jason Hungerford, and Bryan Smith; and twenty five (25) great grandchildren: Brandon, Colin, Sa’ar, Sela, Tsemah, Jackson, Libby, Cash, Penelope, Juliet, Violet, Luca, Ariela, Elijah, Austin, Hailey, Dylan, Rhianna, Zackary, Kaleb, Madison, Dallas, Mason, Lucas and Mavis Briele.
