Elizabeth (Betty) Jane Williams


Elizabeth (Betty) Jane Jennings Williams was born on November 3, 1947 in Pittsburg, PA.  She was the daughter of Bertram F Jennings and Erna Elizabeth Jester Jennings. While working as a secretary for the CIA, she met the love of her life, and on September 15, 1967 Betty married Gerard (Gerry) Williams of Buffalo, NY. Together, they welcomed daughters Geraldine (Geri) Rivera-Vigo (Rafael) and Jennifer Millheim.

Betty was married to a Flight Engineer in the USCG, which took her family to Elizabeth City, NC, Detroit, MI, Ewa Beach, HI & finally Clearwater, FL.  After settling down in Clearwater, FL she became employed as a postal carrier for the Largo Post Office.

Betty enjoyed traveling, playing tennis, and taking her beloved dog Roxy for walks. However, her favorite pastime was playing golf with her husband and friends. Betty also loved to cook, garden and after retirement paint and draw. Every year Gerry and Betty would open their home to family and friends on Christmas Eve where they would share and give away her very popular holiday cookies. Betty also loved to play cards and enjoyed teaching everyone how to play Shanghai Rummy!

After both Gerry and Betty retired from the USPS, they built their dream home in Murphy, NC.  They always looked forward to spending time there and welcomed friends and family to visit and explore the region.

Betty passed away at the age of 73 on March 17, 2021 in Clearwater, FL at The Preserve of Clearwater surrounded by her family. She was predeceased by her  husband survived by her daughters, two grandchildren; Joshua Williams and Joseph Millheim, three siblings: Robert Jennings (Bernie), Beverly Jennings and Geraldine Melko as well as many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at Light of Christ Catholic Church in Clearwater, FL on Thursday, April 8, 2021 at 10 am followed with a Service at Bay Pines National Cemetery in St. Petersburg, FL at 12:30 pm.
