It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Emilio Castro, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend, who left this world on March 18, 2025, after a long illness. Emilio was born on June 4, 1937, in El Salvador, Central America, and his journey through life was marked by dedication, love, and an unwavering spirit.
Emilio was the cherished son of Oscar Castro and Filipa Chinchilla, and he grew up with the warmth of his family surrounding him. He is survived by his devoted wife, Doris, with whom he celebrated an extraordinary 67 years of marriage after their wedding on December 14, 1957, in El Salvador. Together, they created a loving home filled with laughter, support, and endless memories.
As a father, Emilio took immense pride in his children: Irving (Lorraine), Raul (Margo), Otto, Ludwing (Aracelis), and Dora Lesly. He nurtured them with love and wisdom, instilling in them the values that would guide them throughout their lives. His legacy continues with his grandchildren: Mia, Neva (Brian), Christopher (Sarah), Christina, Eliza, Alexandra (Matthew), Gabriel, Mary, Joseph, Frances, Emilia, and Doris, along with his great-granddaughter, Inara. Each member of his family held a special place in his heart, and he cherished the moments spent with them, whether at home or cheering on his favorite soccer teams.
Emilio was not only a family man but a dedicated professional. His career as an Electrical Engineer in El Salvador laid the foundation for a successful transition to a new life in the United States, where he became a Blood Bank Technologist in New York. He was proud of his accomplishments, particularly his proudest achievement of becoming a U.S. citizen and mastering the English language, which symbolized his commitment to embracing new opportunities and experiences.
Beyond his professional life, Emilio was passionate about soccer, both as a player in his youth and as a devoted fan throughout his life. The joy that the sport brought him was infectious, and he loved sharing that enthusiasm with family and friends.
Emilio is remembered for his kindness, wisdom, and strong character. He was a mentor to many, always willing to lend a helping hand or offer sage advice. His brothers, Rolando and Wilmer, and sisters, Sonia, Letty, and Mirna, will forever hold onto the cherished memories of their time spent with him, as will countless friends and colleagues.
A gathering of family and friends will be held in Emilio’s honor on March 24, 2025, from 11:00 AM until service time at 1:00 PM at Veterans Funeral Care. All who knew him are invited to join in celebrating a life well-lived.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Emilio’s memory to the Wounded Warrior Project or Boys Town, organizations that reflect his commitment to helping others.
Emilio Castro’s love and dedication to his family, his hard work, and his zest for life will be remembered fondly by all who were fortunate enough to know him. He leaves behind a legacy of love, strength, and perseverance that will continue to inspire. May he rest in peace, surrounded by the love of his family and the joy of cherished memories.
It has been said that a measure of a human is how many people he impacted and how long he will remain in their hearts on on their minds after their passing.
With that said Mr. Emilio Castro and his long list of descendants and loved ones will be deeply missed by his legacy will live on.

Emilio was probably best known as an outgoing, friendly guy on a powered mobility scooter!! I think the old saying that āhe never met a strangerā could perfectly describe Emilio!
