Emma Jean Williams

Emma Jean Williams was born June 6th, 1940 in Cody, KY.  She went to be with the Lord on January 20th, 2023 at the age of 82.  She was preceded in death by her loving husband, George Thomas Williams.  She leaves behind daughter Valerie Sewell (Billy), daughter Vera Gilmer (Patrick), and a beloved granddaughter Anna Sewell.  She also leaves behind several siblings – James Hammonds, Bill Foley, John Foley, Jennie Foley, and Dinah Foley Dyer.
Jean graduated from Athens High School and attended the University of Kentucky (Go Wildcats!).  She worked in the banking and mortgage industry when she was young, demonstrating her skill at bookkeeping and management.  She met George when he was home on leave from the Navy and it was a love that was meant to be.  After his honorable discharge, their relationship flourished.  They eloped and were married in Jellico, TN in September of 1958.  Jean continued to work to help support them while George finished his mechanical engineering degree at the University of Kentucky.  After that, she devoted herself to being a mother and wife, and then her most treasured role, grandmother.  She was active in many organizations including several homemakers organizations, especially treasuring the Ewalt Homemakers group, the Central Kentucky Knife Club, historical society, and the Georgetown College Women’s Association.  She has always been involved in church, teaching Sunday School at Georgetown Baptist, being an active supporter of mission programs at several churches, and is a member of Starkey Road Baptist Church.  Jean and George loved attending Silver Saints and Golden Heirs activities.  To commemorate Emma’s legacy, her family is encouraging memorial contributions may be made to Golden Heirs of Northside Baptist (St. Petersburg) or Starkey Road Baptist Church (Seminole).
Services and Ceremonies to pay tribute to Emma Jean’s life will take place on Friday January 27th, 2023.  First, at Veterans Funeral Care (830 N. Belcher Rd, Clearwater), a visitation will be held from 10am – 11am.  Then a funeral ceremony will take place from 11am – 12noon,  officiated by Pastor Terry Ribble.  Finally, after a vehicle procession, her committal and interment will be at Calvary Catholic Cemetery (5233 118th Ave N., Clearwater) scheduled for 1pm.  She’ll then be reunited with the love of her life, George.
Arrangements entrusted to Veterans Funeral Care in Clearwater, FL.

Reunited with George and with her Savior! I look forward to seeing them both one day very soon! Jean was one of the best – loving, caring, super-fun, quick-witted, and a joy to hug. I will miss her smile and her southern twang. Not goodbye; just, see you soon! Thank you, Jesus, for the gift of eternal life!

We were so saddened to hear of our dear friend Jean’s passing. Happy that she and George are together again as I am sure she wished. Together with their Savior. We considered them dear friends. Wish to let her family two daughter’s and her Grandaughter know how sorry we are. We heard about you all and what you were up to often. George’s trip to Washington was so special to him . May God give you comfort and peace. So sorry we could not attend her memorial service. We did not know about it.
