Erica Sylvia Scaglione, beloved by all who knew her for her unwavering kindness and passion for music, passed away peacefully on March 3, 2024. Born on April 7, 1993, Erica’s life was a beautiful symphony of compassion and melody.
A true music aficionado, Erica’s soul found solace in the harmonies of life’s melodies. Whether it was the soothing notes of classical compositions or the vibrant beats of contemporary tunes, music was her constant companion. She shared her love for music generously, inspiring others to find joy in its rhythms.
Yet, it was Erica’s kindness that truly set her apart. Her heart was an endless wellspring of empathy, always ready to offer a listening ear, a comforting word, or a helping hand to those in need. Her acts of kindness, both big and small, touched countless lives and left an indelible mark on the hearts of many.
Beyond her love for music and her boundless compassion, Erica was a cherished friend, a devoted family member, and a pillar of strength in her community. Her absence leaves a void that can never be filled, but her spirit lives on in the memories she created and the lives she touched.
Erica is survived by her loving family, mother Stephanie Scaglione, a sister and brother-in-law Lauren and Anthony Dedea, a niece and nephew whom she adored Ava and Joseph, a loving cat she adopted named Sofie, and many more family members and wonderful friends, who will forever hold her dear in their hearts. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to music education programs in her honor, keeping her passion alive for generations to come.
As we bid farewell to Erica, let us remember her with smiles for the joy she brought through her voice in song, with gratitude for the kindness she showed, and with music in our hearts, echoing the melodies of her life. Rest in peace, dear Erica, your song will play on eternally.
God’s Garden
God looked around his garden
And found an empty place,
He then looked down upon the earth
And saw your tired face.
He put his arms around you
And lifted you to rest.
God’s garden must be beautiful
He always takes the best.
He knew that you were suffering
He knew you were in pain.
He knew that you would never
Get well on earth again.
He saw the road was getting rough
And the hills were hard to climb.
So he closed your weary eyelids
And whispered, ‘Peace bethine’.
It broke our hearts to lose you
But you didn’t go alone,
For part of us went with you
The day God called you home.
We are so sorry for your loss. May Erica sing for eternity. Prayers for all of you. Love your cousins Angela and Bob Allison.
I had the joy to be Erica’s high school choir teacher. She was always joyful, kind, and gentle. Erica was not only talented but hard working. She was an example to her peers. I am glad to see how big a role music played in her life. My condolences to Erica’s family. She was truly a light.
Erica was someone I looked up to in so many ways. She lead with her heart, and always had such love and compassion for others. I was proud to know her, and I’m deeply saddened by the void in the world without her in it. Heaven is now a place with more beautiful melodies and a kind soul to watch over us all. My heart breaks for her family, and I hope for healing.
I’ve known Erica since elementary school, and we shared a love for music. Through the years, we laughed, we cried, we sang together, and saw the Butterfly Garden here in Gainesville. She was such a bright light, and she lit every single room she walked into with her kindness and her joy. I’ll miss her so incredibly much, but I take comfort in knowing she isn’t in pain anymore. She’s singing with the butterflies. I am so sorry for your loss; I’m sending all of the love and light I have…I know how much she loved you all.
We are very heartbroken as we loss Erica but Heaven has gain a Beautiful Angel .
Our Prayers and love to our Cousins

Erica, I have waited to post something on your page here. I am crying just thinking about what I’m going say to you right now. Today is Easter and you were supposed to come over for a family dinner. Your birthday is coming up next weekend. I have done nothing but cry for you every night. I miss you so very much. I am so thankful that you left videos of you singing. You and I were so in synch that in your videos when you smile, I smile because that’s how we were. I am trying to adapt to this new life without you, but it is so not fair. We had a celebration of life for you, and so many people were there in person and were able to watch it live and it was the most beautiful celebration of life I have ever seen. So many people love you and expressed how you played such a positive role in their lives. I wish you were here. You are my sister. I miss you so much, today was different though. I was outside with my family and a song called Shivers by Ed Sheeran was playing and I felt your presence in the sky. It finally hit me today that you are gone. I want you to know that although you are not physically here I have been brainstorming ideas to continue your legacy with music. I know how much you loved teaching kids and you were just such a great person. I love you so much.
It’s with a heavy heart and a deep sense of loss that I find myself writing this message. Today, the world feels a bit dimmer, having lost one of its brightest lights. Erica was not just a friend from childhood but a radiant soul whose kindness, warmth, and extraordinary talent touched all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Her voice was a rare gift, capable of stopping you in your tracks, leaving you with nothing but a smile and goosebumps. It’s a voice that will echo in my memory, a melody of happier times that will never fade. Though life’s journey took us on different paths, the bond we shared will remain in my heart.
She had an unparalleled spirit of generosity, extending her hand when I needed it the most, and showing me the true meaning of friendship. Her laugh, her smile, and the wisdom beyond her years have left an imprint on my life that time will never erase. Tyler and I still find ourselves quoting her, a testament to her lasting impact on us.
Erica, thank you for every moment, every lesson, and every memory. Your light will forever shine in the hearts of those who loved you. Rest in peace, dear friend.
Erica, as your neighbor for many years, our hearts and prayers go out to your family. sincerely Odonnell Family
