Frank John Herremans, 90, of Seminole, FL, passed away on November 9, 2017 at the Mid Pinellas Care Center in Pinellas Park. Frank was born December 13, 1926 in Merle Belgium. Frank’s parents moved their family from Belgium to America and settled in Ravenna, Michigan, when Frank was 3, and started farming. After high school, Frank went to community college and played intramural baseball.
Frank served his country in the U.S. Army as a paratrooper during the Korean War. He married Margaret Dietrich on May 1st, 1954, in Ravenna and started their family. Frank then moved his growing family (5 girls) to Arizona where started an Automotive lube business. After moving there, they had their last child (a boy finally) Greg. After about 3 years in Arizona, Frank moved his family back to Michigan and finally settled in Hart where he had a fuel distribution business.
Frank finally was able to retire around 1985 and he and his wife moved to the Villages in Lady Lake Florida. There he could play endless amounts of golf (his passion) and lots of games of Set Back (his favorite card game). He and Margaret lived in the Villages for 21 years and enjoyed every minute of it. Frank loved writing funny poetry (sometimes serious) and playing the harmonica. After Alzheimer’s and dementia robbed Frank of his mind his family moved them to Seminole closer to his children to live out his days.
Frank had a loving spirit, and a good sense of humor. He worked hard and played hard. He will be greatly missed; but, tucked in our hearts always.
Frank was preceded in death by his parents and his ten siblings. He is survived by his beloved wife of 63 years, Margaret; their six children; Deb, Sue, Cindy, Pam, Lorie and Greg; eleven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
A Memorial Mass will take place at St. Jerome’s Catholic Church on Wednesday, December 6, 2017 at 11:00 am. The church is located at 10895 Hamlin Boulevard, Largo, FL 33774.
