Frank Lowell Conlan, Jr.

Beloved son, husband, father and friend to many, Frank “Lowell” Conlan passed away peacefully after extended illness on Wednesday, August 31, 2022. Lowell was born in Miami, Florida on September 13, 1939. Growing up near the swamps of south Florida and the Everglades, he found it to be a delightful playground with time filled exploring, collecting reptiles and sailing the coastal waters. Much of this time was spent with friends who remained close to him for his lifetime. Upon graduation from Miami Senior High School, he attended The University of Florida graduating with a Construction Engineering degree. The United States Air Force began his next phase of life. After pilot and officer training, he attained the rank of Captain and Air Craft Commander of the C-130 aircraft.

He met Sherry Aubrey while stationed at Sewart Air Force Base in Murfreesboro, Tennessee. They were engaged and married just 5 weeks prior to his departure to fulfill orders to serve 13 months in the Viet Nam War. Later, he went on to work in banking and, prior to his retirement, was the proud owner of Conlan Appraisal Company, in Blowing Rock, North Carolina. His passions during his lifetime included coaching Little League, sailing, attending games and rooting for the Florida Gators, aviation, travel, and attending air shows with his son, Brian. Lowell’s patriotism was unmatched and was evident, not only in serving his country, but in all aspects of patriotism. Lowell was predeceased by his father, Frank Lowell Conlan, Sr., his mother Lucille Grimm and his beloved son, Brian Aubrey Conlan.

He is survived by his wife, Sherry Aubrey Conlan, of 56 years and his brothers, Robb Grimm and Rick Grimm, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
