Mr. Gayle Davis Yarnell, 77, of Mulberry, FL passed away peacefully after battling several illnesses on May 4th, 2021. Originally from Paris, Kentucky he was the son of Claude D. and Lilly Elizabeth (Crump) Yarnell.
Gayle served as a Armor Corpsman in the US Army from 1961 – 1964. He spent his civilian career as an electronics engineer working for the Veterans Administration with most of those years being on-staff at Lexington VA Health Care Center. Gayle was a member of the Lexington Model Airplane Club, an avid sportsman and fisherman, and always enjoyed gardening and woodworking.
He will be missed by everyone who ever knew him. Survivors include his beloved wife of 60 years, Florence Marie (Richardson) Yarnell; children Anita Gayle Liggett of Tampa, FL and Michael Davis Yarnell of Washington, DC; 3 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren and a many extended family who will always love him. His family gives a special thank you to Ms. Valerie Salters for her unwavering care and attention, as well as Lakeland Regional Medical Center and the CVMA.
Services and Ceremonies have been entrusted to Veterans Funeral Care in Clearwater, FL. Viewing & Visitation will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday May 13th, 2021 at Veterans Funeral Care (830 N. Belcher Rd, Clearwater). A motorcade procession will accompany Gayle to Florida National Cemetery (Bushnell, FL) for his final salute and interment at 2:00 pm. Honors will be performed by the US Army Funeral Honors Team and the Sumter County Memorial Honor Guard.
