Jerry Plunkett, 86, of Clearwater, passed away on September 8, 2016 after a prolonged illness.
He was born on October 4, 1929 in Evanston, Illinois, a son of the late John James Plunkett, Jr. and Helen Wretlispach.
Beides his parents, he is preceded in death by his son: Tim Plunkett, father of Cassie.
He is survived by his loving wife, Linda of Clearwater, Sons: Brien Plunkett and his wife, Renee, of West Salem, Wisconsin and their children: Missy and Marshall; Chris Plunkett of West Salem, Wisconsin, and Pete Plunkett and his wife, Brenda, of Orlando, Florida and their children, Peyton and McKenzie; stepdaughter, Lauri McCaugherty and her husband, John, of Odessa, Florida and their children: Ryan and Eric McCaugherty.
Jerry was a warm person who never knew a stranger. Jerry was an avid Notre Dame fan and enjoyed swing dancing with his wife. He was Catholic by faith and was a loving husband.
He served in both the National Guard and the Inited States Army, serving during the Korean Conflict. He received the Korean Service Medal with 2 Bronze Service Stars and the United Nations Service Medal.
A Graveside service will be held on Thursday, September 22, 2016 at 2:15 PM at Bay Pines National Cemetery. Father Jack Marino will be officiating. Military rites will be rendered.
