Harry McKinnie, Jr. was born on April 29, 1942, in Houston, Alabama, to Harry McKinnie, Sr. and Einice McKinnie. He passed from labor to reward on September 30, 2025 in St. Petersburg, Florida. A faithful servant of his country, Harry was a veteran of the United States Army. He dedicated many years of his career to Albertsons (now Publix), where he worked for 28 years as a manager, and retired as a valued and respected employee. Harry was a devoted Tampa Bay Rays fan, passionately watching every game, win or lose, from his favorite chair. In his life and during his time of illness, he held a personal relationship with the Lord. The knowledge of his faith brings his family great comfort.
Precious thoughts of Harry will forever fill the minds of his family and friends. His memories will be cherished by his wife of fifteen years, Brenda Lyles-McKinnie; his sons, Darryl McKinnie (Jill), and Christopher McKinnie; daughters, Harriet McKinnie (Dee), and Arlear McKinnie; his stepsons, Derrick Lee, Jr. and Ira Lee; his brothers, Myles McKinnie and Vernon McKinnie; his sisters, Mariah Pelt, Ruby McKinnie, and Evelyn McKinnie; and a host of beloved grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 15, 2025 at Veterans Funeral Care, 830 N. Belcher Rd., Clearwater, FL 33765 from 10-11:00 AM with service starting at 11:00 AM officiated by Pastor Joseph B. Reid.
