Harvey C. Sparks-PFC-US Army


Harvey C. Sparks, 91, of Spring Hill, FL passed away in the early morning, suddendly and peacefully meet his Lord and Savior while visiting his son for the holidays,  in New Market, MD on December 3, 2022.  He was born on April 18, 1931 in Everett, Pa to William Sparks and Nellie (Stevens) Sparks and worked as a upholster. He served in the US Army during the Korean War Era, in country and was awarded the Good Conduct Medal; Korean Service Medal with 2 Bronze Stars; Combat Infantryman Badge; National Defense Service Medal and the United Nations Service Medal.

His services are 11:00 AM, Monday, January 9, 2023 at the Hudson Church of God, 7631 New York Avenue, Hudson, Florida with Pastor Richie, to officiate. Visitation will be at the church beginning at  10:00 AM until Mr. Sparks service. Graveside and full military honors will be to 2:00 PM, Monday, January 9, 2022 at the Florida National Cemetery, 9201  S/W  102nd Avenue, Bushnell, Florida with the US Army Ceremonial Honors Team and American Legion Post 155, officiating. At the end of this service he will be interned with his wife, Vivian, who is all ready buried there.

Harvey worked from New York to Florida throughout his life and was a Master Upholster.  His most important service was to his country.  Drafted into the military and fought in the Korean War , where he was wounded in combat.  He received full disability and still served in many ways. Eldest brother to Virginia, Gertrude, Geneva, Ada, Rachael, Paul, George, William and Michael.  Married to Mary Lou Mishler, a son, Dennis and his wife, Sharon of New Market, MD; grandsons, Jeremy John (Kara); three great grandchildren: Dustins Eric (Megan) and two great grandchildren.

Widower of wife, Vivian Barnett Sparks; step children; Stanley Barnett (Lynette): grandchildren: Ruschelle (Derrick) ; three great grandchildren and one great great grandchildren. Branston (Ashley); three great grandchildren. Cheryl; five great grandchildren. Steve, Michele; four great grandchildren. Natasha – two great grandchildren: Jessie – 3 great grandchildren: Gregory, special  grandson, Gregory Scott (Melaine); 2 Very Special Great Grandsons, Caleb and Jacob. Rosemary (Ray)Cornett,  grandson Wesley; 4 Great Grandchildren.  Andrew; Phillip (Jessie); 3 grandchildren, Stefanie has five great grandchildren, Morgan and Nathan.

Harvey was a faithful supporter of many youth camps, and The Hudson Church of God family, his Veterans Home Health and Medical Professionals were amazing group of people that he loved and respected. They gave the greatest care and ability to live a long life.

He will live in our hearts forever.  AMEN – We Love you, Dad.
