Harvey L. Olson, 83, of Palm Harbor, Florida passed away Monday, April 8th , 2019. He died on the birthday of his beloved deceased younger brother Gordy. There was certainly a wonderful
birthday celebration in Heaven that day. Harvey was loved husband of 55 years to Edda Jakubowski Olson and father to Andy Olson (Chris), Carmen George (Joe Busch), and Linda Barney (Bryon). He was grandfather to Rashaud Olson, Sean Olson, Triston Coats, Julian George, Alex Barney, Kathryn Adamson (Matt), and Christina Barney. Harvey was born in Escanaba, Michigan April 5 th , 1936 to Werner A. Olson and Margaret Hoes, the ninth of twelve children, Raymond (Pat), Frances (Steve), Junior (Renee), Ronald (Betty), Vivian (Don), Lloyd (Yvonne), Joyce (Leonard), Jerry (Sarah), (Beverly), Gordy (Eileen), Glenn (Janet), and Janet (Glenn, Bill). Six of his siblings preceded him in death.
Harvey served 30 years in the Army reaching the rank of Sergeant Major. His duty tours took him and his family to Germany (twice), Turkey, Iran, and several U.S. states. He was a religious and patriotic person and his last words were that the General was coming to get him – his Lord did come and get him just moments later.
Funeral services with full military honors will be held Wednesday, April 17 th at 10:30 am at Bay Pines National Cemetery, 10000 Bay Pines Blvd, St. Petersburg, Florida. Family and friends
are welcome to visit at Edda’s home after the funeral.
