Harvey M. Ganong

Harvey M. Ganong, born on July 29, 1947, in Needham, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully on March 1, 2025, in Safety Harbor, Florida. He was 77 years old. Harvey was a beloved husband, father, brother, and friend, whose kindness and generosity touched the lives of many.

Harvey was a devoted family man, survived by his cherished wife, Patricia “Patti” Ganong, with whom he celebrated 52 years of marriage after tying the knot on June 23, 1973, in Pittsburgh, PA. He was a loving father to his daughter, Sarah Ganong Duff, and son, James Ganong. He also leaves behind his dear sisters, Sally Ganong Pope, Peggy Ganong, and Jean Ganong, and three beloved grandchildren, Lucas, Micah, and Declan.

A proud veteran, Harvey served in the U.S. Navy, where he learned the values of discipline and commitment that guided him throughout his life. After his military service, he embarked on a successful career as a Hospital Management Executive. His professional journey included notable roles such as Chief Information Officer and Vice President of Technology, where his expertise and leadership made a lasting impact.

Harvey’s passions extended beyond his career. He was an active member of various Highland Lakes clubs and community events, always eager to lend a helping hand. In his younger years, he was involved in the Boy Scouts and later became a Scout Master, shaping the lives of young boys with his wisdom and dedication.

An outdoors enthusiast, Harvey loved spending time in nature. He cherished camping trips with his son, hiking adventures, sightseeing excursions, and sunny days spent relaxing by the water. He was also an avid golfer, enjoying countless afternoons on the course with friends. Above all, Harvey’s greatest joy came from doting on his beloved wife, Patti, and making lasting memories with his family.

A man of incredible generosity, Harvey was known for his unwavering kindness, always willing to help those in need. He contributed to numerous charities, particularly those focused on wildlife conservation, reflecting his deep love for nature and its preservation.

A celebration of Harvey’s life will be held on Saturday March 8, 2025, with a gathering of family and friends from 10:00 Am until service time at 11:00 am at Veterans Funeral Care 830 No. Belcher Rd. Clearwater, FL. 33765.

Burial will be on Monday, March 10, 2025 at Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, FL. With Military Honors at 1:30 PM.

Harvey M. Ganong will be profoundly missed, but his spirit, love, and kindness will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew him.
