Helen “Marie” Archer, 101, of Largo, FL, passed away on May 24, 2025, at her home after a short illness. Born on June 24, 1923, in Parkersburg, WV, she was the daughter of Olin W. Fox and Mildred Wildman Fox.
On October 25, 1942, she married Walter “Bus” V. Archer, Jr. in Parkersburg, WV, sharing 63 cherished years together until his passing in 2007. Helen was a loving mother to her daughter Denise A. Pandelos and her husband Manuel; son Paul W. Archer and Judy. She was also a proud grandmother to five grandchildren—Alisa Stets of Columbus, Ohio; David L. Archer II of Wadsworth, Ohio; Nicholas W. Pandelos of St. Petersburg; Stephen M. Pandelos of Clearwater; and Matthew Smith of Tampa—as well as great-grandchildren David L. Archer III, Alex Stets, Lauren Stets, Evan Pandelos, and two girls of Smith.
Helen was preceded in death by her beloved husband Walter; daughter Bobea Sue Smith (2005); and son David L. Archer II (2011). Her life’s primary occupation was that of a homemaker. She was an active member of Indian Rocks Baptist Church, where she sang in the choir, and was also part of the Eastern Star and the Weirton, West Virginia Women’s Club.
Throughout her life, Helen resided in various West Virginia towns, including Parkersburg, Beckley, Williamson, Welsburg, Weirton, and Wheeling. She enjoyed painting, knitting, crochet, sewing, needlepoint, and was an excellent cook. She took immense pride in raising four wonderful children and in her long, loving marriage.
