It broke my heart to hear about the passing of this amazing couple. Brother and Sister Sumlin were amazing, selfless, and caring people who would do anything for anyone! They helped me and my family so much when we moved to the area in the early 2000s. We moved away a while ago but my mom and dad still live there and every time we would visit we would look forward to seeing them at church.
I am currently deployed to South Korea and can’t be there to bid them farewell. But I will do so from here in my heart! I can only hope that my sweetheart and I can stay this happy for that long! Rest in glory!

Bro and sister sumlin were like another set of grandparents to me and i thought of them often even after i moved away. Even on my trip to fl this last week to help my mom i thought of them and thought of visiting them. When i heard of jims passing i cried then my heart broke the next evening when i heard of lois passing. I loved them dearly they were such great people and care so much about otherss! Prayers and condolences to the family
My heart is full. My sister introduced me to the Sumlin’s when I moved here. She adopted me as another sister. I worked with Lois preparing and serving meals for Salvation Army. She was a force to be reckoned with ❤️
I stopped wearing fragrance to church because of Jim’s sensitivity. I loved sitting with them on Sundays! He always helped my family whenever needed! Their spirits were strong!
I will miss them but they rejoice with my sweet sister!
They were truly an example of Christlike servants, always in word and deed.
My family and I met the Sumlins through church. Our younger children grew up with their youngest son. The Sumlins were always there when you needed them. Their sweet, strong spirits often filled our home.
We are saddened by their departure, but we rejoice in their graduation from this life to a better one.
I am blessed to have had them as my friends.
I know their love will grow forever.
We became acquainted with the Sumlins while we lived in Lecanto…they were such caring and giving individuals…and always had smiles on their faces…you could tell that they loved life. Just before we sold our house and moved, they so graciously offered to help us re-side and re-roof our little cottage…they will always hold a special place in our hearts
I am Lois’s niece In Idaho, Sheila Burtosky. I remember Lois visiting my mom in Saint Petersburg and sharing my grandmother’s ancestry with us. It was fascinating and inspired me to study my ancestry further to share with my children. My family and I are praying for Lois and Jim’s family at this sorrowful time. May their memories stay forever in your hearts.
