Jerry Lee Douglas


J

erry Lee Douglas was born on January 12, 1947 to Lloyd and Mary Jean (Keagle) Douglas in Battle Creek, Michigan. He passed away on June 9, 2018 at his home under the care of hospice surrounded by his loving family.

Family

He is survived by his wife Melanie (Morris) Douglas to whom he was married to for 49 years. Additionally he is survived by his two daughters, Tami Brown and Melanie Workman and two grandchildren Logan and Reese Workman.

Life

Jerry was the proud owner and operator of Jerry’s Custom Cars in Clearwater, Florida. He was a racing and car enthusiast. Jerry was a member of the Sports Car Club of America (SCCA) racing and was friends and sponsored by Evel Knievel at one time.

Military

Jerry joined the United States Army and served in Vietnam from 1966 to 1968 working primarily in Field Artillery and Intelligence specifically in missile operations. At the time of his honorable discharge, Specialist Douglas was eligible to wear the Army Commendation Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal, his 2nd class Missile Badge, as well as his designation as an M-14 sharpshooter, M-16 marksman, and Carbine expert.

Services

A graveside service with military honors provided by the United States Army honor guard is scheduled for Thursday, June 14, 2018 at 1:00 pm at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, Florida. All guests planning on attending the ceremony should plan to arrive at 12:45 pm. The Patriot Guard Riders of Florida have been invited by the family as special guests.
