Joan Rae Hinton

Joan Rae Hinton, 74, passed away peacefully on April 29, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family.

Born in 1951, her life—her “dash” from 1951 to 2026—was one filled with love, grace, and meaning. She lived fully from beginning to end, leaving a lasting impact on everyone fortunate enough to know her. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, known for her vibrant spirit, poise, genuineness, and unwavering love.

She made the world around her a brighter place and loved unconditionally. She was a true sun seeker who could spend hours on the beach, gardening, sitting outdoors or watching the sun set. With an endless cup of black coffee or a sweet treat in hand, she found great joy in sharing her time and conversations with her family and friends.

She is preceded in death by her mother, Betty Jane Plant; her father, James Hinton; and her brother, Jimmy Hinton.

She is survived by her loving children: Curtis Jacques (Apryl), Garett Jacques (Kayla), both of Connecticut, and Morgan Jacques of Florida. She was a proud and cherished grandmother to Jacent, Keziah, Colton, and Vienna, and a great-grandmother to Cleon. To know her was to love her. She leaves behind a legacy of kindness, strength, and deep love. Her family will forever be grateful for the foundation she built, the joy she shared, and the countless memories created through laughter, trips, and everyday moments.

Though she is no longer here in the flesh, her presence will always be felt—in the warmth of the sun, the sway of palm trees, the colors of a sunset, and the peaceful rhythm of the ocean. Her love remains constant, carried in the hearts of those who knew and loved her. She was more than a mother—she was a confidant, a best friend, and a guiding light.

She will be deeply missed and forever cherished.
