Joanna Moorhead

Joanna Helena Moorhead was born on August 20, 1948, and peacefully passed on September 03, 2023. She was the world’s best mother and “Bobcha”. Joanna was born in Wielun, Poland right after the end of World War 2 to Anna and Franciszek Frysiak. Like many post War World 2 Eastern European families, she grew up under great hardship. After graduating high school, she received a scholarship to attend Warsaw University where she received her master’s degree.

While attending Warsaw University, she met her first husband Wiktor who was a history teacher at the university. Their only child Aleksandra “Oluska “was born on August 23, 1973. Joanna then worked as elementary school teacher and as a librarian at Warsaw University. She also worked for many years at the Warsaw Ethnographical Museum. Joanna moved to Mesa, AZ in the late 1990’s with her second husband Robert Moorhead (a retired US Navy Commander). Joanna and Robert moved to Clearwater, Fl in March 2002 to help Aleksandra during hardship with her second pregnancy. They never left Clearwater and dedicated themselves to aid in raising both grandchildren along with her first husband. Their grandchildren were fortunate enough to be “raised by a village.”

They loved both grandchildren very much. Both enjoyed traveling around the United States, attending Navy reunions, and going on Holland America cruises. Joanna was a dedicated wife and full-time caregiver during her second husbands’ chronic sickness. Joanna was very giving and had a big heart with compassion towards helping people. She loved animals big and small. She loved to read, write, and learn. Joanna kept an active lifestyle. Unfortunately, this all came to end when she was diagnosed with severe white matter disease in November 2022.

Joanna is survived by her daughter Aleksandra “Ola “, grandson Jonathan, and granddaughter Victoria. She is also survived their loving white German shepherd Sammy. Joanna is also survived by her sister-in-law Sara Moorhead from Arizona and her family and close friends from Poland. Joanna passed away under care of Suncoast Hospice Empath inpatient care center in Palm Harbor, Florida.

Our family would like to thank: Dr. Dani Mathew MD and Meghan ARNP from Bay Care Dunedin Primary Care, Suncoast-Empath Hospice (yellow team and Hospice care center inpatient staff) and Madonna Ptak Neuroscience Institute -Morton Plant. Her daughter Ola would also like to thank the good neighbors from on Top of the World who were checking in on her mom while she was working and offered to visit her. Aleksandra would like to thank them for not forgetting about her mom and those whose made their efforts known to help. With all her heart… thank you. Thank you to the On Top of the World building management crew for their kindness toward Joanna. There is no funeral planned and memorial care is being handled by the Veteran ‘s Care funeral Home in Florida.
