John G. Stengel of Clearwater, Florida passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 14, 2021. John was born in Reading, Pennsylvania on June 6, 1936. A son to the late John Sr. and Dorothy (Stubblebine) Stengel and Mamie (Sacco) Stengel. He was predeceased by his first wife Romayne (Bonsavage) with whom he shared 50 loving years. He was also predeceased by his sister, Ann (Stengel) Peffley; his brothers, Carl H. Stengel and John Sacco.
John is survived by his beloved wife, Nancy (Meoli) Stengel. His children, Kurt A., Craig J (Maria), Heidi S Grosvenor (widow of David), Jill M Chambers (Tom) and three granddaughters, Christina D. Grosvenor, Megan M. Potts (Michael), Sarah M. Stengel, and two grandsons, Ryan and Noah Pepperman. John is also survived by five great grandchildren and two sisters, Patricia (widow of Jerry Vath and Joan (wife of Charlie Secoges) and 6 nephews and 6 nieces.
John was, a graduate of Reading Central Catholic High School (1954), Kings College Wilkes-Barre, a former Eucharistic Minister for St. Raphael RCC, Raleigh,and a current member of Saint Jerome RC Church Largo, Florida. He always felt a deep connection to his faith.
John was a retired Vice President of a Pharmaceutical company and was known for his love of big band music and played the clarinet as one of The Doctors of Dixie during His College years.. John loved socializing with family & friends. He especially enjoyed Cruising, visiting the Vatican, living at the Beach and singing.
John completed his journey in life with Nancy by his side, as he listened and hummed their song along with Frank Sinatra. He and Nancy were truly blessed to share these past 11 years together caring for each other and with their loving children.
