John Shull US Army Veteran-Vietnam War Veteran service will be held December 9, 2022 11:00 AM at the Bay Pines National Cemetery, 10000 Bay Pines Blvd, St. Petersburg, FL 33708 with the US Army Honors and Ceremonial Team and The VFW Post 273, officiating. John Shull was born on August 8, 1940, in Philadelphia, PA growing up in the city with his brothers Bill, Rick, Steven and his sister Chris. He was drafted into the military November 30, 1963, then was pulled out a year later to take care of his mother, brothers and sister, due to his stepfather passing away. He followed this by working at Coca Cola for 11 years as a machinist. Then moved on working at Tastykake (night shift) for 24 years. By 2003, he retired and by 2006 he relocated to Clearwater, FL for the remaining 16 years of his life. Beloved husband of his wife Joyce for 52 years, they were blessed with three Children; John Jr., Joanne, and Jason. In addition, he was “Pop Pop” to nine Grandchildren; Nicole, Kyra, Lexi, Phillip, Matthew, Jason, Kaylee, Kelsie, and Ariana. John was a devoted family-oriented man who loved hunting, crabbing, woodworking, an all-around handyman, and a true Phillies fan. He loved to watch sunsets every Saturday evening with his wife at Weaver Park, Dunedin FL. He would always exalt a calm, patient, and independent personality. He went peacefully to be with the Lord on October 9, 2022, at the age of eighty-two, with his family alongside him. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him. As his father often said to him “inch by inch is a cinch, yard by yard is hard.” This is how John lived his life every step of the way.
To the Shull family,
I am so sorry to hear the passing of my uncle John. He was always such a sweet man and I have very fond memories of him. May he rest in peace and my prayers are with all who are affected by this loss.
With all my love,
Stephanie
John was one of my very favorite people on Earth. He certainly was a true family man and a calming presence. He is already dearly missed. He did a great job along with his loving wife raising their son to be a wonderful father. My daughters are lucky young ladies. I just wish they had a lot more time with their pop. My thoughts and prayers are with those John left behind.
Joyce and family: We are so sorry to learn of John’s passing. I will always remember his quiet strength and dedication to his family. May God comfort you all at this difficult time.
