Johnny Robert Gray, passed away on September 10, 2020 at the age of 94, in Tampa.
He was born in Pelham, Georgia, December 28th, 1925 to Hattie Mae and Emmett Gray. He spent a happy childhood on his parent’s farm along with his older sister Merle and younger brother Roy. He left after graduating from High School to Join the Military.
He was a WWII Veteran who Joined the U.S. Army Air Corps in 1944, he served as a nose gunner in a B24 in the Pacific theater. He Retired from the Army in 1966 and moved to Tampa, to be closer to his parents and family. He worked at GTE Automatic Electric until his retirement. He enjoyed fishing, reading, cooking, and most of all spending time with family and friends.
He was a kind hearted man with a great sense of humor, and loved by all.
He was Preceded in death by his loving wife of 43 years, Bernadette Gray, his parents, his sister, Merle Fulghum and his brother, Roy Gray. Johnny is survived by three children from his first marriage, daughters Barbara Plowick (Joe) of Sarasota, Vicky Brandt (Rick) of Port Charlotte and son Gary Gray of Sarasota. He also leaves behind his step-family that he considered his own children, Regine Kramer (Kurt) of Tampa and Jesse Gray of Tampa, also grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
He will be put to rest at the Florida National Cemetery – Bushnell.
