Joyce Bates Martin passed away peacefully at 11:57 am on November 2nd, 2020. She was born to JC Bates and Inez Cutrer on April 12, 1941 in Osyka, Mississippi. Growing up she was energetic and fun-loving, all the while being a loyal member of First Baptist Church of Houma in Louisiana. She later moved to Florida and settled in Pinellas Park.
Joyce was predeceased by her parents; beloved husband Charles Allen Martin; son Garth Allen Martin; sisters Wilma Terrell (Cecil), Peggy Bates and Floyce Belton. Her surviving family members who will always cherish the times they had together include children Charles W. Martin of LeCompte, LA, Pamela K. Martin of Walker, LA, Veronica Martin Ford (Rick) of Pinellas Park, FL, and John M. Martin (Alicia) of Hattiesburg, MS; grandchildren Christian Voisin, Garrett Voisin, Danielle Pierce, Melanie Dunbar, Austin Toups, and Maddox Martin. She even has 4 great-grandchildren Evie Pierce, Nolan Pierce, Alden Dunbar and Holland Toups.
Her family will be placing her urn back home in Mississippi where she’ll be reunited with her husband and other family members. Details regarding those dates/times will be posted here when they’re finalized. Please reach out to Joyce’s family during this most difficult time.
