Juanita Lawson, 91, of Dunedin, Florida, passed away on April 19, 2018. The “Little Fireball from Kentucky” was born in Williamsburg, Kentucky on October 1, 1926.
Juanita was raised on a farm and the family moved to Florida in the 1940’s. It was here that she met and married William “Bill” E. Lawson, her one and only, until his passing in 1985. In her working career, she manufactured cigars in a Clearwater factory; manufactured lawn chairs; worked at the 5 & Dime and a few restaurants. Mostly she was a Wife, Mom and Grandmother.
Juanita loved sports, the Rays; her beloved Lightning; and Soccer which she would watch with the T.V. muted since she knew almost all of the players. She enjoyed playing BINGO and could play 42 cards at one time, drink coffee and eat a snack. She was sharp minded and also had a “green thumb”, like her mother Clara. And then it was like a light went out in those little bright brown eyes. At first, slowly then very suddenly the bright women we all once know was gone left with a little beautiful shell. Gone, that smile…
The Lord works in many ways. When that sharp mind left her, that strong heart slowed, no more walks around the yard and the house. It seems so sad to feel that bright light dim that spirit just fade. Juanita will be loved and missed for a very long time. God Bless you Juanita Mother, Grandma. She indeed was “The Beautiful Lady”.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Clara Powell; her husband, William; daughter, Donna; son, Jason Todd; and brothers, Bill, Richard and her baby brother James. She is survived by her children, Willa, Brenda, Darrell, Patricia, and Kevin; eleven Grandchildren, and sixteen Great Grandchildren and one Great-Great Grandchild.
A Memorial Service is scheduled at 3:00PM on Monday, April 23, 2018, at Bay Pines National Cemetery. She will be interred there with her husband, at a later date.
