Julia Englehardt Loser, 85, formerly of Hudson, Fl, passed away Friday, August 4, at the Forest City Nursing home.
Born November 3, 1931 in New York, NY, daughter of the late John and Julia Corliss Engelhardt, she was the widow of Donald J Loser. Don was the love of her life, and his death along with that of her son two years later was devastating. Julia held many jobs as needed throughout the years, but her favorite was at the Modern Art Foundry in Astoria, NY where she repaired the statue of Christopher Robin which was located in Central Park. Julia was a loving mother and talented craftswoman, who loved her many hobbies like quilting and beading. Julia also loved to tell stories, reminiscing about dancing at Barney Googles, and sending a bucket of beer up a rope to her grandmother in the late ‘30’s.
Surviving are daughter and son in law, Julie & Darby MacDowall, Kingsley and two grandchildren, Kurt and Andrew MacDowall. She was preceded in death by her son John Meehan, brothers Thomas, William, and Jackie Engelhardt and sister Catherine Dorry.
The MacDowall family would like to thank the angels from Traditional Home Healthcare and the staff at the Forest City Nursing home, as well as the staff of Dr. Kevin Williams, for their caring and compassion.
A private remembrance for family is planned.
Friends and family are invited to share a memory and sign her guestbook below.
