Kenneth Henry Nichols, 85, of Clearwater, FL funeral services are 10:00 am, Wednesday, September 6, 2017 at the Curlew Hills United Methodist Church, 2210 Cathedral Drive, Palm Harbor, Florida with Dr. Dick Baker, to officiate. The family will receive friends at the church from 9:00 AM until service time. Full military honors by the American Legion Post 159 with Colonel Norm McLellan officiating will be Wednesday, September 6, 2017 at 2:00 pm at the Sarasota National Cemetery, 9810 State Road 72, Sarasota, Florida 34321.
A native of New Smyrna Beach, Florida and a local resident of Clearwater, Fl. Kenneth was born on September 21, 1931 to Gifford and Jennie (Hall) Nichols and passed away at Mid Pinellas –Woodside Hospice on August 30, 2017. He was a retired electronics engineer who worked and retired from Honeywell. He was a member of the Men’s Reg. Group @ Honeywell and served our nation during the Korean War Era as ET3C (Radio Serviceman) and was awarded the Good Conduct Medal, Korean War Service Medal and the United Nations Service Medal. He served aboard the USS MANCHESTER (CL-83).
He is preceded in death by his parents and a daughter, Betty Joyce Nichols and is survived by his loving family: his wife of 64 years, Willene Nichols of Clearwater, Florida; two sons; Kenneth H. Nichols Jr. and his wife, Mary of Sarasota, Florida and Gerald W. Nichols and his wife, Crystal of Largo, Florida; his daughter, Barbara Zopfi and her husband, Jeffrey of Pinellas Park, Florida; a sister, Betty Jean Severance of New Smyrna Beach, Florida; thirteen grandchildren and seventeen great grandchildren.

Death is difficult for such a beloved patriarch of the Nichols Family, but as his Nephew, I know I take comfort in the fact that my Uncle Ken knew Christ and lived a life of sacrifice and service to others. Those of us left behind are saddened at his loss, but I know the “Angels Rejoice” at his home going into Heaven. Rest in Peace. I’ll see you again one fine day !!

We are so sad to read of the loss of Ken from this world. Our years of working with Ken and our occasional meetings at the gym have always been a pleasure. Ken could be relied on for an open and sincere conversation and, of course, a smile. It was a pleasure to have known him. I know you feel the loss deeply and we send our sincere sympathy.
