Kenneth James Gordon


Kenneth James Gordon, 93, Sergeant, United States Army, World War II veteran.

Kenneth was born in Waltham, Vermont on February 26, 1923 to Harry and Clara (Barrows) Gordon and passed away at the Colonial Manor Nursing Home in New Braunfels, Texas on March 12, 2016. During World War II, he served in combat with the 29th Infantry in Rhineland and Central Europe and was a member of the first waves of troops that stormed the beaches of Normandy. He was awarded the American Theater Medal, European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with Arrowhead Device, Good Conduct Medal, Victory Medal and the Bronze Star for bravery. After being discharged from military service, he worked at Bristol Brass, Bristol, CT., a mechanic at Chevrolet Automobile Dealerships, owned and operated an Automobile Service Station, and Automotive Service Manager with Zayres.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Frances Rouille Gordon, a son, Wayne Thomas Gordon and a daughter, Dale Ann Gordon

. He is survived by a son Kenneth James Gordon, Jr. of Florida and three daughters, Colleen Jean Ryan of Arizona, Robin Gordon-Vostinak of Texas and Nicole Lee Needham of California; ten Grandchildren and 3 Great Grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, we are asking donations be made to Colonial Manor Nursing Home, 821 US Hwy 81 W, New Braufels, TX 78130 to the Mean at Work Program.

Funeral service will be held at 12:30 PM, Friday, April 8, 2016 at Florida National Cemetery, 6502 SW 102nd Avenue, Bushnell, Florida 33513 with the United States Army and Sumter Volunteer Color Guard, officiating.
