Kit M. Rath, 67, of Largo, Florida passed away at her residence on March 21, 2016 from natural causes.
A native of Englewood, New Jersey and a local resident since 1986, when she moved here from Augsburg, Germany; Kit was a retired Family Support Worker for the State of Florida; a Methodist and a loving wife, mother, sister and grandmother.
She is predeceased in death by her parents; Daniel and Elizabeth (Gast) Mc Queeney. Kit is survived by her loving family: her husband of 49 and ½ years, Damon F. Rath of Largo, Florida; three sons: Steven J. Rath of Largo, Florida; Micheal Q. Rath and his wife, Laura of Largo, Florida and Christopher D. Rath of Homosassa Springs, Florida; a daughter, Brandy K. Downing and her husband, Jason of Largo, Florida; a brother, Sean Mc Queeney of Largo, Florida; Sister Beth Miller and her husband Thomas; niece Randi Miller and eight grandchildren.

Kit was a wonderful coworker and friend. I will especially remember all of our times together at the Largo Health Department. She had such a sweet spirit and her love for her family was the most important thing in her life. Her grandchildren were her shining light! Brandy, I’m sending you a special big hug and hope that you and the family will gain strength and peace from God and from all the people who loved Kit. She will be greatly missed.

Dear Damon and family, I’m so sorry to hear of Kit’s passing, she has been one of my favorite people for about 18 years. We grew close when we both worked at the health dept and for many years, until I moved to Tennessee, we met for dinner at least once a month! She will be missed by many.

I have known Kit since 1960 and always thought of her as the perfect wife and mother. Her life was a very busy schedule and the family always came first. Diane and I are honored to be part of Kit’s family and we miss her sweet smile and always kind caring words when together. She gave 100% to being the best mother and grandmother and is a shining example to all of us who love our family. Kit is missed in a thousand different ways by all she touched. Kit, we love you and miss you and will always remember your precious smile especially around the grand kids. As I write this I know that God is cradling you and prepared a place for you at his table. I am saddened to hear of Kit’s passing. I worked with her for many years here at the Largo Health Department. Her smile always brightened everybody’s day and she never had a bad word to say about anyone. She always approached her work with diligence and integrity and was able to put a positive spin on just about everything. I appreciated knowing Kit. My thoughts and prayers are with Damon and his family. Don’t stop talking about her; long may her memory live on.
How can you ever forget someone who was considerate, thoughtful, comforting, generous and strong . . . I will always see her face & eyes lighting up when she smiled. If we depart this world being so loved and respected, we’ve done well.

I can’t believe this. Kit has been on my mind and just now at work of all places I decided to google her name and this is what I found. Kit and I went to high school together and lived down the road from each other. I remember when she met Damon and for years we kept in touch about children and such. She was such a wonderful person and took me under her wing as the new girl in school. My heart goes out to Damon, her children, and family.
