Lois Madeline Parry

Lois Madeline Parry, 92 , of Spring Hill, Florida, passed away on October 11, 2018.  Lois was born on Valentine’s Day, February 14, 1926 to Robert and Harriett Berry and grew up in Hazel Park, Michigan.

She was married to John Albert Parry (“Al”)  for 67 years. They were childhood sweethearts and she often shared the stories of  going with Al on his bike while he delivered newspapers in the neighborhood and growing up during the depression together.

Lois and Al were married on January 16, 1943 during World War II, when Al was on leave from Army stationed in Europe. After the war, Lois and Al bought some land in Hazel Park, Michigan and built their first home entirely by themselves while raising their first three sons. In the coming years their family grew to include six sons and moves to larger homes in Royal Oak and Sterling Heights, Michigan. In the 1980’s after Al retired, Lois and Al moved to Florida. There they bought a beautiful new home, made new friends, and traveled to interesting places, like Hawaii and Jamaica.

Lois loved cooking and baking for her family and friends.  Thanksgiving and Christmas were spectacular feasts. Her baked goods (especially birthday cakes and Christmas cookies) are legendary and her recipes have been passed down to the next generation. She was amazingly talented at arts and crafts.  She spent countless hours creating beautiful ceramics as well as quilt and cloth work that are unsurpassed. She taught many people how to sew and shared her talent and creations freely.

Lois was always friendly, cheerful, and feisty. Her outlook on life was always upbeat in spite of the many personal challenges and serious health issues she experienced in her life. Above all she loved her boys. She lived every day to the fullest until her final days.

She was preceded in death by her husband Al Parry; brothers Richard Berry, Thomas Berry and Robert Berry; and her granddaughter, Alexandra (“Lexi”) Faith Parry. She is survived by her sister Lucille Musgrove and brother William Berry; her children, Bill and his wife Becky, Alan, Doug and his wife Cheryl, David and his wife Terry, Chris and his wife Caron, and Rob and and his wife Nan; thirteen grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

A graveside service is scheduled for 11:00AM on Monday, November 5, 2018, at Florida National Cemetery  located at 6502 SW 102nd Ave, Bushnell, FL 33513.
