Lorraine Jacklyn Torres Little

Lorraine or Lorrie know by family and friends was born September 16, 1938, in Manhattan, New York. Lorrie is preceded in death by her parents Paul Torres and Trinidad Serra Torres, and her
sister, Shirley Torres Lakomski.
Lorrie was accepted and graduated from Washington Irvin High School of Fine Arts and graduated 1957. She earned her bachelor’s degree of Fine Arts from City College of New York
in 1961 (where she was friends and a classmate of General Colin Powell) and earned her bachelor’s degree in interior design 1987 from El Paso Community College. Lorrie looked for a job so she could see the world. She went overseas to work for the U.S. Army as a Department of Army Civilian in Munich, Germany with Special Services (Morale and Welfare). Lorrie organized actives and adventures for soldiers and families stationed in the area. It was not long before a young Lieutenant, from a farm town in Missouri saw the New York City girl. Lt. John Little and Lorraine Torres courted and married on 6 June 1964. From that point on, the two made a loving home and raised two children, Leigh and Garrett.
21 homes and 32 adventurous years with the U.S. Army, 6 years with Lockheed Martin in California, 6 years Wentworth Military Academy in Missouri, and 22 years in their current home in Palm Harbor, Florida. While being a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, Lorrie passionately volunteered for Girl Scouts, soccer mom, numerous spouses clubs & military family support groups, Armed Forces YMCA, docent to 4 different art museums in California and Florida, organized several support groups for Alzheimer’s care givers and her church.
We will all miss Lorrie’s genuine love, compassion, commitment to family, support to our U.S. Army Soldiers and their families, and her passion for the arts. Lorrie’s legacy will inspire family
values and selfless service to our country. Lorrie is survived by her loving husband, Major General, U.S. Army (Retired) John H. Little of 58 years of marriage, her daughter Leigh DiSalvo; (sil) LTG (Retired) Joseph DiSalvo of Jacksonville, Florida; her son Garrett Little; (dil) Susan Little of Tarpon Springs, Florida; (sil) Kathryn Little Hostetler; 6 grandchildren: Kathryn Donovan, Sydney Little, Emily Schlabra, Peyton Little, LT. US Army Aaron DiSalvo, Cooper Little; and 7 great grandchildren: Kenneth Donovan, Emilia Donovan, Peregrine Donovan, Isaac Schlabra, Martin Donovan, Eliza and Winry Schlabra.
Military awards are as follows; Department of the Army Decoration for Distinguished Civilian Service, Department of the Army Outstanding Civilian Service Medal ( first and second award),
The Honorable Order of Molly Pitcher, Hell on Wheels, 2nd Armored Division Certificate of Achievement.
A celebration of Lorrie’s life will be held at East Lake United Methodist Church on November 13, 2022, at 12PM and internment at Arlington National Cemetery (date to be determined). The Little family request donations to the Alzheimer’s Association or the Wounded Warrior Project in lieu of flowers.
