Lieutenant Colonel Harvey Gerald Demmler was born on February 21, 1943 in Providence, Rhode Island to Eugene Demmler and Lena Demmler (Dambach). Harvey passed away on February 15, 2012 in Bay Pines, Florida at the age of 68. He is survived by three children Kirt and Bryan Demmler; and Marlene Demmler of Largo, Florida; and three grandchildren Andrew, Bryan, Padraig.
Harvey entered into the United States Marine Corps on November 15, 1968 at Quantico Virginal where he reported for Officer Candidate School or OCS and retired as a Lieutenant Colonel. During his time in the Marine Corps Col. Demmler received the Marine Corps Commendation Medal with “V” for valor, the Navy Presidential Unit Citation, the Marine Corps Reserve Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal with a bronze service star, the Republic of Vietnam Gallantry with cross, and the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal. The family of LtCol Demmler will be gathering to lay him to rest on February 15, 2016 at Bay Pines National Cemetery.
